Fran Hebert, President Bruce Lambert, Executive Director James Hearne, Conference Chairman November 16-20, 2017 Bienvenue! Nous aimons enseigner la musique! C est notre coeur! C est la vie! Welcome to the 2017 LMEA Fall Professional Development Conference. As LMEA President, I am especially pleased to reveal the slate of conference activities planned for our members. This event is designed with you and your students in mind. Clinicians and specialists from all interest areas are prepared to advance your volume of resources and ideas through more than 50 intense and involved sessions. and Choir directors, String teachers, Elementary educators, Administrators, Classroom music teachers, University professors, Collegiate students, and Private studio teachers will experience the presentation of new skills, methods, and techniques that offer immediate impact for each field of expertise. Be sure to check the conference APP for session descriptions. As we share our passion for music education with colleagues, the atmosphere of harmony in this mix of intensive learning, superb performances, and special events allows us to recharge our battery and return to our area of instruction with renewed enthusiasm. Our All-State student members are the best-of the-best in Louisiana. They are chosen from rigorous auditions, district and state. Their musicianship and academic excellence are among the finest in our parish school systems. Congratulations to each student selected as a member of an LMEA All-State performance group. We are honored to have the support of families and community members in every concert audience. We are certain that you value the inclusion of music instruction in the education of your son or daughter. You have every reason to be proud of the accomplishments of these talented and disciplined young musicians. I am certain that you will appreciate the artistic level of performance achieved by our all-state students, their dedicated teachers, and their renowned guest conductors. The LMEA Board is a partnership of 31 music educators who invest their time and ingenuity into the excellence of this conference. Please note the names of our friends listed in the concert programs who provide instruments, risers, and other needed resources for our musicians. The business community is represented on-site with exhibit booths from local, state, and national companies that offer products and services available to our membership. Browse and visit to find out the latest innovations. We join with university staff across the state to give our students the opportunity to connect with options for higher education. Our universities are second to none in the nation. We capture memories through pictures and videos of our all-state concerts. Keepsakes you will want to purchase. Be sure to pick up a concert program on your way into the performance hall. To begin our concerts we recognize and award those who have made outstanding contributions toward excellence in music education: Administrators who advance the arts in their school or parish system; music educators who display major accomplishments within their first five years of teaching; and experienced teachers who merit election into the LMEA Hall of Fame. We love teaching music! It is our heart! It is life!
