2 GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES: Singer participation in NSAL Florida East Coast Chapter Competition is subject to the following governing rules. Please read carefully. Your signature indicates that you agree to the following: 1. Applicant is between the ages of years for all voice types by Competition date, February 6, Applicant may not be under professional management at the time of the February 6, 2016 competition. 3. Applicant must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status, proof of age and social security number. Any misrepresentation on application will be cause for disqualification without benefit of appeal. 4. Chapter Competition Repertoire Requirements: Selections are to be performed from memory, with the exception of an oratorio aria replacing an opera aria. A minimum of three languages represented, at least one of which must be in English. No musical theatre or zarzuela selections. If selection was originally written as part of an opera, it qualifies. Singer will begin by singing one song of their choice all the way through without interruption. After that the Judges will choose from the singer s repertoire and will interrupt when they feel that they have heard enough to decide. Category 1. Opera Three arias demonstrating contrasting musical styles and languages. Selections to be performed from memory. An oratorio aria may be substituted for one opera aria and does not need to be memorized. Selections to be sung in the original key and language. Category 2. Art Song Three Art Songs by different composers, showing contrasts in musical periods and language. Accompanist: Singer may use own accompanist or accompanist will be

3 provided by Chapter at no cost to singer.
