38 Recommissioning Specific tests of all modifications Will be done as far as possible in system tests Integration tests involving ABT systems: Timing system upgrade: GPS down: no injections; injection sequencer, injection cleaning + soft interlocking strategy,... Some need fully-connected systems (BIC loops, access, DCCTs, timing, pre-pulse, RF): estimate 2-3 days of connected checkout needed System beam tests Subset of full 2010 checks: synchronisation, basic aperture checks, system functionality tests, interlocking checks, steering, protection device setup and validation, asynch dumps,... Full tests needed in areas where systems have been modified (MKI, MKD, TSU,...) Specific tests also for 4 TeV (BETS, protection) Abort/injection gap commissioning and full operational deployment Needs full breakdown, but expect that this is of the order of shifts with beam to be confirmed before fixing this number Follow-up of intensity increase Standard tests as beam intensity increases
39 Sequencer Machine check out DATABASE 1. New simplified database scheme that allows 1.1. simplification of the sequence components definition ==> easy to maintain since the number of components is greatly reduced; 1.2. new functionality: inheriting mechanism; possibility to restrict the execution of sequence components to a given set of beam modes; who, why, when the sequence was modified; 2. The sequences/tasks will be only accessible in the development database by the ROLE lhcseqeditor and tested using the development server of the sequencer. Once they work, they will be copied to the PRO database for normal execution. Therefore the PRO database won't be accessible directly anymore. A roll back mechanism will be supported to allow to roll back to the previous version in case of problems. 3. All the operational sequences will be moved to the new schema, the unused tasks/sequences will be deleted. The new database schema is already in the development DB and has been provided by CO/DM who is developing an API to easy the access to the data (no more direct queries). The API will be ready by end of January and then the Sequence Editor and the Sequencer Core will start implementation. This development will be done in the development servers and will be deployed as PRO once tested and validated. Most likely the full database functionality will be implemented in the sequencer core in steps. As first step the core will be updated to use the new schema; as a second step the inheriting mechanism will be implemented. SEQUENCE EDITOR With the new database schema, a new editor will be developed, more user friendly and with more functionality. NOMINAL SEQUENCE(S) Will be reviewed and re-structured to map the way we operate the machine. Components of the type CHECK-SET, where the 39 SET is implemented as on error task will be substituted by ENSURE tasks where appropriate.
