1 Installing or Relocating SMART Board and Whiteboards Ultra Short Throw Projector (Non-Interactive) Ultra Short Throw Projector (Interactive) / Whiteboards Guiding Principles Installing or Relocating SMART Board and Whiteboards Use manufacturer s installation guide and specifications for all equipment. Mounting Heights: Kindergarten 2nd grade classrooms: mount with pen tray 16 from floor. 3rd 6th grade classrooms: mount with pen tray 24 from floor. Secondary classrooms: mount with pen tray 34 from floor. Exceptions: Board heights can be +/- 3 from designated heights if existing conditions prevent the correct height from working. o Examples: do not cut chalk tray to lower a preexisting board 2. o Existing shelving or permanent structure is blocking. Ultra Short Throw Projector (Non-Interactive) Use manufacturer s installation guide and specifications of Projector and Mount. Invert image, if needed. Image should be clear and in focus. Image should fill writing surface within a ¼ of top, bottom and sides. 1 P a g e

2 Wall Plates: Wall plates will be mounted at the right bottom of Smart Board (as you are facing the board). Approximately 6 down from bottom and 3 in from side. Current connections in Wall Plate: 1x VGA, 1x HDMI, 1x 3.5mm Audio. All cabling will be placed in cable channels on the wall. Ultra Short Throw Projector (Interactive) / Whiteboards Use manufacturer s installation guide and specifications of Projector and Mount. Invert image, if needed. Image should be clear and in focus. Image should be set to the 16:10 resolution using the options below for alignment. Option A. Existing Two Whiteboards (6 or larger) Align the projector on the inside edge of the board farthest from the main classroom door. See picture below. Option B. Single Whiteboard If appropriate, install a second whiteboard. If not adding a second whiteboard, align the projector with the edge of the board farthest from door, not center. 2 P a g e

3 Wall Plates: Wall plates will be mounted at the opposite side of the board in reference to the projector mount. Approximately 6 down from bottom and 24 in from side. See example b. 4 Guiding Principles Install identified projector per standard installation guide (Non-interactive or interactive Ultra Short Throw) in Elementary teaching spaces that currently have cart mounted projectors as identified in the walk-through surveys or spaces that currently do not have a projector Remove existing projector & remote and return to IT Modify current mount in room as necessary (change board heights, move boards as needed, cabling and cable channels) Perform in and out of scope room adjustments as identified in walk-through surveys (remove chalk trays, modify coat racks, etc.) o 8 Out of Scope level 1 activities identified in survey Reconnect in-room equipment (document camera, DVD player if one, etc.) to projector and sound system Provide RCA to HDMI adapter to rooms that require them (adapters to be purchased and provided by PSD) Collect trash and deliver to collection point as described below Collect recyclables (cardboard, styrofoam) and deliver to collection point as described below Notify the Project Manager if the whiteboard is not suitable for the interactive projector Handling Projector Project Waste Styro-Recycle Step 1 handled by Troxell 1. Handling waste material all to be picked up by Styro-Recycle a. Put Styrofoam back in projector boxes to be stacked on pallets and shrinkwrapped b. Paper instructions, CDs in sleeves, plastic wrap consolidated into a box. Mark box with a big X on the outside so Styro-Recycle will know it is a non- Styrofoam box. c. If need be, use a projector box for paper, et al, and leave some Styrofoam loose, to be shrink wrapped on top of boxes on pallet d. Return boxes of materials to ITC for storage and prep for pick-up by Styro- Recycle e. Any miscellaneous trash generated can be returned to ITC and placed into our existing trash dumpster in the back 4 P a g e

5 Remaining steps handled by PSD 2. Projector boxes stacked on pallet up to 6.5 feet high 3. Boxes of paper instructions, CDs in sleeves and plastic wrapped also stacked on pallet 4. If any loose Styrofoam (to use boxes for paper, et al), add on top of pallet within 6.5 foot limit 5. Fully loaded pallets to be shrink-wrapped 6. Styro-Recycle can take up to 6 pallets at a time for one standard fee ($75 per pickup) 5 P a g e
