8 Basic Rules MUST carry your university ID card Consume bottled water (no food or other drinks) Take care of personal belongings Please observe the Silent Study areas Switch mobile phones to silent Texting OK (but please switch to silent) Please don t make or take calls inside the library

9 Library Study Environment 2 areas strictly for SILENT individual study Feel free to ask anyone nearby who is disturbing you to be quiet If noise persists ask a member of Library staff to speak to the people concerned May be asked to show your ID card to a member of Library staff May be asked to leave the Library end resort reported to the Law School

14 Borrowing rights and responsibilities Student ID card is your Library card you need it to borrow material and to get into Taylor Library + The Sir Duncan Rice Library 20 items allowance (includes 2 items from Heavy Demand to take home) Request items from site libraries on other campuses (not The Sir Duncan Rice Library) + remote stores

26 Library Resources - Search Tools Isn t one perfect place to go for all the academic information you need! Use the best tool for the type of information you need: Primo (Resource Discovery Tool) Library Catalogue (via Primo or separately) Electronic databases E-books Journal articles Search engines (Google) for info not on databases

Searches across all our collections (library catalogue, special collections catalogues and museum catalogues) Tells you what books and journals the library holds Provides an A-Z list of e-journals Links to e-journals and e-books available in full text Tells you what e-databases we have that are relevant to your subject Links to e-databases containing journals so that you can search them for academic papers on your subject Search for and link to past exam papers

28 Where you can access Primo On/off campus: from any computer (with access to the Internet) via the Library s website at Login to Primo to use useful features such as recalling books out on loan and requesting transfers of books from other libraries or stores
