3 Editor s Top Pick features articles and images selected each week for their exceptional interest or research value. Select the article title to view the article or select the graphic thumbnail to view the full-sized graphic. 3

4 There are a number of resources found under Database Features including Literary Corner, Award Recipients, Glossary of the Arts, Notable People, Recommended References, and more. To access Literary Corner click on the icon here. 4

5 Literary Corner is a guide to prominent authors in major literary periods and regions. Click on an author s picture to view content about that author or select an author from the alphabetical list. 5

6 Literary Profiles groups authors by major literary periods and regions: American Literature, English Literature, Contemporary Literature, and World Literature. You can also access content on Literary Criticism, a Glossary of Critical Terms, and Online E- Books. Here you can access The New Lifetime Reading Plan which provides a unique look at works that should be read over the course of a lifetime. It includes brief introductions to more than 130 literary classics and biographical information on the creators of these works. Additionally, the Going Further section supplies facts about 100 other 20 th - century writers. 6

7 The Award Recipients feature lists major award winners in eight categories, including Pulitzer Prizes in Literature, Bollingen Prizes in Poetry, Pritzker Architecture Prize, National Medal of the Arts, Academy Awards, and the MacArthur Fellowships. Choose any category link to retrieve an alphabetical list of awards available. 7

8 The Glossary of the Arts provides definitions for terminology, symbols, ideas, and people associated with the world of the arts and humanities. You can search for terms within Article Titles or in the Full Text of articles. 8

9 The Notable People in the Arts and Humanities feature groups notable people under seven main categories: Architecture & Design, Literature, Multimedia, Music, Performing Arts, Philosophy & Religion, and Visual Arts. 9

10 The Recommended References feature provides suggestions for arts and humanities readings beyond the SIRS Renaissance database. Each recommendation includes a brief description of the book, along with author and publisher information. Choose any category link to retrieve an alphabetical list of articles available. 10

11 Spotlight On provides monthly resources and tools exploring social and timely topics and events. The monthly topic features an image, summary, related articles, and an interactive quiz. 11

12 Curriculum Pathfinders provides resources for curriculum support and homework help in all subjects. Access the subject you would like further information on by clicking the fields at the top. Links to My Courses, Research Ideas, and interactive media pieces appear. 12
