A DOGS' LIFE IS A REMARKABLE LITTLE PLAY - IN UNDER HALF AN HOUR IT CAN MAKE YOU LAUGH, REMEMBER AND FEEL SAD ABOUT THE REALITY OF THE LIFE OF MANY DOGS. IT SEEMS TO CONNECT WITH THE AUDIENCE, MANY OF WHOM WILL HAVE HAD AFFECTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR OWN DOGS. I HAVE BEEN VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE WAY OUR DOGS' CHARACTERS HAVE DEVELOPED DURING REHEARSAL, AND HOW DEEPLY THE ACTORS HAVE DRAWN ON THEIR OWN OBSERVATIONS TO CRAFT THEIR CHARACTERS. A PLEASURE TO DIRECT. DAVID TYNAN NOELENE COOPER I' ve loved rehearsal for A Dog 's Life. It's been a mix of pain and hysteria - we' ve spent more time on all fours than when in nappies. We' re hoping our necks, hands and knees last the distance and that reproducing doggie habits causes audience hilarity rather than ours. Emu, Cow, Chook, Dog...what next for me? SIMONE KIEFER Ah to playa dog once again. The last time was some 20 years ago, on this very same stage, playing Nanny in Peter Pan. No knee pads or massage required back then. Having good fun with Fritz nonetheless, and all my fellow mutts and carers. ELOISE THOMPSON My Itlth production after agreeing to do "really, absolutely not-negotiably just one" round of the Follies two years ago. To the delight of audiences from North Warrandyte all the way to Lesser-North Warrandyte I continue to defy logic, reason, and the advice of my family and friends to bring you the quality of theatre only I can. SUSAN RUNDLE Having watched Sim and Noels play animals in many a Follies it' s fun to be joining them as we bring these mutts to life. I dedicate my performance to Harry the Schnoodle and Cooper the Bulldog. I' ve won prizes you know! JACK FISHER Always disposed towards drama, I was swept into the WTC by Flora Terrens. Working with such talented actors and directors has helped me realise my strengths and weaknesses in acting. I look forward to further improvement in the future. JOYFLANNAGAN joined W arrandyte Theatre Company back in Follies, Pantomimes and One Act Plays are just great fun. This year I am loving working with four talented "Dogs", a cute Warden and a very smart Director.

THIS PLAY CONSIDERS SO MANY QUESTIONS...BOISE OR PARIS? WHY IS HARVEY WRAPPED IN PLASTIC IN A DUMPSTER? MARRIED OR JUST AN AFFAIR? WITH OLSTON OR STANLEY? THE NARRATOR SETS THE SCENE, THE COUPLE RUNS AWAY WITH THE STORY. RUTH RICHTER FLORA TERRENS I have been acting since the age of ten and am enjoying my 4th year with the Warrandyte Theatre Company immensely. I am very excited and proud of this play, and loving the privilege of w orking with such talented actors, and being under the direction of Ruth Richter againi JON ITALIANO I' ve been in many productions here and enjoyed them all, but Boise Idaho holds a special place in my heart because of the amazing people I' ve been able to work with. The actors are great fun and Ruth the director and the backstage people have been amazing. Pl ease enjoy their hard work. LISA UPSON A long time member of WTC, I am thrilled to be involved in the OAP's this year. I get to work with the gorgeous Ruth, the wonderful Jon, the dapper Jack and my beautiful niece Flora. I'm having a ball being the puppet master too. JACK FISHER Always disposed towards drama, I was swept into the WTC by Flora Terrens. Working with such talented actors and directors has helped me realise my strengths and weaknesses in acting. I look forward to further improvement in the future.
By arrangement with Origin Theatrical, on behalf of Samuel French, Ltd by Sean Michael Welch The norrotor of a story chronicles the meeting of a couple in a small cafe in Paris, France, only to start losing control of her characters once they realise she ew'sts DIRECTOR RUTH RICHTER THE NARRATOR LISA UPSON OLSTON JON ITALIANO CHASTITY FLORA TERRENS THE VWITER JACK FISHER
DIRECTING IS STEERING A SHIP AND HOPEFULLY NOT RUNNING AGROUND. WEARING TWO HATS THIS YEAR AS DIRECTOR AND ACTOR WAS MADE EASIER WITH MY WONDERFUL COMPATRIOTS, ANGIE AND TONY. WELSH PLAYWRIGHT TONY LAYTON'S INSIGHTFUL LOOK INTO THE WORLD OF THE AGEING ROCK STAR IS AMUSING AND TRAGIC AT THE SAME TIME, WITH MORE TWISTS THAN THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD. THANK YOU LISA FOR PRODUCING AND BEING THERE FOR BACKSTAGE AS WELL YOU ARE A CHAMP. ENJOY FOLKS. DARYLL MITCHELL TONY CLAYTON I have been with the WTC for six years, performing in the Follies, One Act Plays and Spring Productions; with my most recent appearance on the Warrandyte stage being in God of Carnage. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Daryll and Angie on Something Old, Something New, and am looking forward to a deep and meaningful exploration of that agoold philosophical question of whether, in fact, you really are never too old to rock and roll. ANGELA HEINE I love the theatre; such a g reat escape. Whether it be an outing or being an active member of a company, theatre is exhilarating. I'm delighted to have worked closely with Tony, Daryll and Lisa and am so grateful for their supportive encouragement. Taking on the role of Pat in this, my fourth production with WTC, has been stimulating and at times somewhat formidable. Passion. Pressure. I feel alive! DARYLL MITCHELL Old rockers never die, well this old rocker is now a wise Irish Porter who's a fan of an old rocker...weird. My seventh year on and off the stage with great people, and a great hall to be a fool in. Thanks for the tips Tony, only make the notes reol next time.

WHAT'S NEXT 1984 SEPTEMBER 15,16, 22,23+ MATINEE Our Youth Theatre presents George O rwell's " 1984", a n o riginal version from a script adapted by Robert Owens, Wilton E Hall Jr, William A Miles Jr. By arrangement with Origin Theatricals. "Big Brother" is out there and watching. Don't be surprised if 2+2 doesn' t sometimes add up to 5. Don't be surprised if some states operate exactly as Orwell suggested and don't be surprised if governments the world over create crises to distract us from what's important. Come and support this innovative Youth Theatre version of Orwell's dystopian world. Your bookings are being watched! PRESIDENT'S BIT! Thanks to everyone involved in producing these three plays, including special mention to Callum Robertson for all his work in upgrading our sound and light facilities. As always we rely on volunteers with skills and talent and as always we need more. So please let us know if you are interested in becoming involved in any way; we' ll find something to suit you. Besides the youth play in September we are also planning a performance of Speaking in Tongues to be directed by Susan Rundle. This well known Australian play by Andrew Boven was filmed as Lantana. We' ll be staging this in late November. u~sfja P PC THAI RESTAURANT 11
