4 To: Public Protection Committee From: Mark Kordus CC: Michael Ostrowski & Andrew Beveridge Date: 12/17/18 Subject: 1233 Fifth Ave. - Case # CEGWTV On September 28, 2018 Mark Kordus observed unmowed grass and weeds at what was determined to be a public nuisance height at 1233 Fifth Ave, pictures below. A notice was sent to the owner on that same day giving them until October 5, 2018 to correct the issue. The property called and were granted several extensions totaling 18 days from the original due date, at which time the property was reinspected on October 23, 2018, and still found to be in non-compliance. The City s contractor Larry s helping Hand was given orders to abate and this occurred that same day at approximately 2:30 PM. The Contractor because of the dense excessive length needed to mow the grass twice, and he was charged the higher hourly fee of $45/hour verse $40.17/hour. 4

11 To: Public Protection Committee From: Mark Kordus CC: Michael Ostrowski & Andrew Beveridge Date: 12/20/18 Subject: 2316 Prairie Street - Case # CEPRK On November 26, 2018 a violation of a vehicle not parked on an approved hard surface was observed at 2316 Prairie Street and orders to correct were sent that same day to the owner and the tenant, with a compliance date of December 10, A follow up inspection occurred on December 11, 2018 and the vehicle was still observed as being parked on what was deemed to be an unapproved hard surface as observed from the right of way, it appeared to be primarily grass. Hence a $100 service fee was generated for the reinspection and continued non-compliance. The owner did come in on December 19, 2018 and we discussed the situation and he indicated that was a gravel driveway at one time and it has grown up with grass and I indicated it needed to be maintained with gravel if it is to be sued for parking. His due date was subsequently extended until May 31, 2019 in order to give him enough time to bring in gravel to the area that the vehicle was parked. 11
