Patsy Tarr, 2wice founder and publisher; Abbott Miller, creative director and editor; Ben Nicholas, videographer; and Tom Gold, choreographer and dancer, present and discuss the team s latest app, Dot Dot Dot, which invites users to participate in choreographing their own dance. PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET PETIPA EXOTIQUE Sun, Feb 23, 7:30 pm Mon, Feb 24, 3 and 7:30 pm Photo: Sergio Gonzalez Prior to its world premiere, acclaimed choreographer Nacho Duato will unveil his latest creation for the Martha Graham Dance Company. The company performs examples of Duato and Graham s previous choreography in addition to Duato s new work. Duato and Janet Eilber, Graham s Artistic Director, and Emil Kang, Executive Director of Carolina Performing Arts, will discuss Graham s influence on Duato s work. & TECHNOLOGY WAYNE MCGREGOR RANDOM MIND AND MOVEMENT Wed, Mar 12, 7:30 pm Pacific Northwest Ballet in La Bayadère: (l r) Amanda Clark, Leta Biasucci, Carli Samuelson, Liora Neuville. Photo Jesson Mata Pacific Northwest Ballet dancers and dance historian Doug Fullington present excerpts from the works of 19th-century French ballet master Marius Petipa. Revived from century-old dance notation, selections from Petipa s famed La Bayadère and Le Roi Candaule, as well as his staging of the swashbuckler Le Corsaire, will be accompanied by two violinists performing period scores in the traditional rehearsal medium of 19thcentury St. Petersburg. Photo: Ravi Deepres Prior to the American premiere of Wayne McGregor s newest dance work, Atomos, his company will give the audience an upclose look at the process of making choreography. Drawing on excerpts from Atomos, the dancers use the principles and tools of choreographic thinking to create live in front of the audience. Jedediah Wheeler, Peak Performances Executive Director, and David Kirsh, Professor of Cognitive Science at U.C. San Diego and R-Research collaborator, will join McGregor in discussion.

Choreographer Emery LeCrone premieres two Works & Process commissions, each set to the same piece of music, J.S. Bach s Partita No. 2 in C Minor, performed live by pianist Vassily Primikov, with costumes by designer Yigal Azrouël. One work is based on classical vocabulary with dancers from New York City Ballet including Tyler Angle and Teresa Reichlen, and the second contemporary work will be performed by Sarah Atkins, Kaitlyn Gilliland, Pierre Guilbault, Richard Isaac, Kimi Nikaidoh, and Alfredo Solivan. This Works & Process program is made possible with the assistance of Arlene C. Cooper. & MUSIC NEW YORK CITY BALLET CHOREOGRAPHY BY JUSTIN PECK WITH MUSIC BY SUFJAN STEVENS Sun and Mon, Apr 13 and 14, 7:30 pm Prior to the world premiere, New York City Ballet dancers perform excerpts of choreographer Justin Peck s newest work for New York City Ballet, featuring Photo: Paul Kolnik a commissioned score by American singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens. Peck, a New York City Ballet soloist, and Stevens will discuss working together on their second collaboration following the critically acclaimed Year of the Rabbit. SUN YAT-SEN WITH HUANG RUO Sun, Apr 27, 7:30 pm Preview excerpts from The Santa Fe Opera s new production of Dr. Sun Yat-sen prior to its American premiere. Courtesy of the Santa Fe Opera Huang Ruo, the opera depicts the epic struggle to overthrow China s ancient monarchy and build the country a modern nation identity in a blend of global, folk, and classical styles. Director James Robinson and conductor Carolyn Kuan join Huang Ruo and the creative team in discussion.

5 THE GLIMMERGLASS FESTIVAL AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY WITH TOBIAS PICKER Mon, Apr 28, 7:30 pm Francesca Zambello moderates a discussion with composer Tobias Picker, librettist Gene Scheer, director Peter Kazaras, conductor George Manahan, set designer Alexander Dodge and lighting designer Robert Wierzel. Inspired by a murder in the Adirondacks, the opera is based on Theodore Photo: Brittany Lesavoy Dreiser s novel of the same name. Excerpts of the new Glimmerglass version of An American Tragedy will be performed. THEATER PLAYWRIGHTS HORIZONS FLY BY NIGHT Fri, May 2, 7:30 pm See excerpts from Fly By Night prior to its New York premiere. In this darkly comic rock fable, a melancholy sandwich maker s humdrum life is interrupted by two entrancing sisters. Writers Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick, and Kimberly Rosenstock join director Carolyn Cantor in a discussion about the work. 6 SEATING AND TICKET ORDER INFORMATION BUY TICKETS Obstructed view Accessible Seats J11-20 All performances are reserved seating in the Peter B. Lewis Theater and begin at 7:30 pm unless otherwise noted. Reserved seats are assigned by the box office on a first-come, first-served basis and filled from the front to the back. Accessible seats are available for all Works & Process events. When all nonaccessible seats have been sold, tickets for accessible seats may be sold to members of the general public. Most programs run 80 minutes without intermission. No late admission. Tickets purchased by phone or fax at least two weeks prior to an event will be mailed. The box office will call within two business days to confirm receipt of fax orders. All other tickets, including all online orders, will be ed or held at the box office and available for pick up one hour prior to each performance. Standby and $10 student rush tickets (for students under 25 with valid ID) may be purchased at this time if space allows. For availability, call the box office at on the day of the performance.
