We usually make a considerable loss as hiring such a theatre costs quite a large amount. We need to have a showpiece production every few years to keep our public s interest up. My son and still Whips member, Phillip is performing Tartuffe with the Guildbury Players at the Minack theatre in Cornwall after a week, again in the open air, at Farnham Castle. Why shouldn t the Whips do something on similar lines maybe at the Horsley Towers? Some of us can remember a wonderful Midsummer Night s Dream held at Britains Farm years ago with great success. Barbara will provide meat but anyone attending should bring either a salad or dessert and a bottle of something they like to drink as a contribution. 2 WHIPS WALK..14 Sept Jack has had to modify the proposed Whips walk seen in July s edition of SW as the route chosen has had several paths closed off! So a new walk starting at Newlands Corner car park, skirting round the back of Albury into Shere with lunch at the White Horse then back up to Newlands..a distance of 5 miles to lunch then 2 miles back Starting at and getting to the pub around returning to Newlands car park at about Dogs welcome and as it s all very casual, those wanting a shorter walk or who just want lunch, arrange transport to/from the pub Any problems etc contact Jack on jack.griffith7@gmail.com AUTUMN PRODUCTION at the Electric Theatre, Guildford Oct Time to book your tickets...the play, Cheshire Cats is proving to be very funny so please support your society at the Electric Theatre..in fact why not get a group up..it s always more fun that way

There will be 8 tables of 10 and 2 of 8. See if you can get a table together but don t worry if you can t as we would love to have you whether as one, two or twenty! Tickets to be priced at 19 per head to include a 3 course meal, and of course, Icicle Tree. PLAYREADING The next playreading will be at 8PM on Tuesday Sept 10 th at Barbara Firth s new(ish) house, Rosemount, Woodlands Drive EH. tel where we will read Stuart Tomkins play about people in an old folks home..ideal for us! We need playreading volunteers for Wednesday Oct16th, Nov13th, Dec11th...now come on, don t be shy! Don t worry about the actual plays or organising, yours truly can do that, all we really need is a venue! So please contact Jack on or jackgriffith7@gmail.com MEERKATS NOTES Meerkat notes from June & July Meetings as none were had in August: The chairman welcomed new members Jack Griffith, Brian Aitcheson and Iain Macfarlane. The Props Store clearout has begun so those items we do not often have a use for go to the back of the store; you can guarantee they will immediately be needed for something or other! West Horsley Village Fete: 7 September: Fran King ( ) is collecting items for the WHIPS Bric-a- Brac/White Elephant Stall. Some members have already given or promised things, go through those cupboards and see if you have something suitable. Items should be in good condition, this is NOT Jumble, and small, no furniture or the like. In addition Fran would like offers for stints on the Human Fruit Machine, it will mean an hour of your time, that is all. Thank you to those who have already said they would help. Fran has a little list but needs four more names to put on it! Barbara Firth is hosting a post Fete BBQ on Sunday 8 September. It will be bring your own food and drink. Past productions: It is very pleasing to note that both Hand Over Fist, which suffered from a lack of audience and the Young Whips will show a small surplus. The charity TALK will receive a cheque for just over 200 from the raffles and seat sales for Hand Over Fist. Future productions: Cheshire Cats at the Electric Theatre in early October directed by Jack Griffith. It should be a good evening s entertainment but with a serious message behind it. More details from the director on the cast etc can be found elsewhere in this publication. Whippets: Jill Davis is directing and has chosen a revival of The Wizard of Oz last done by The Whippets a number of years ago. Members of long standing will appreciate how many when I say last time it was directed by Angela Watney. Young Whips: Janice Bennett is planning for a production mid February : We have now had offers from directors for the two Whips productions in 2014, Jack Griffith has offered to do the Spring, brave man immediately after the Electric, and Colin Bailey was not totally put off by his first experience and will do the Autumn. Going on into early 2015, Soo and Stuart Tomkins have put their mutual feet forward to direct the Pantomime due in January of that year. Theatre outing: TBA. Walks: Jack Griffith has agreed to resurrect his walks and will organise one for the Autumn so watch this space. 18 people have signed up for Okehampton next May

It strengthens the pelvic muscles and will make delivery that much easier. Just pace yourself, make plenty of stops and try to stay on a soft surface like grass or a path." "Gentlemen, remember you're in this together. It wouldn't hurt you to go walking with her. In fact, that shared experience would be good for you both." The room suddenly became very quiet as the men absorbed this information. After a few moments a man at the back of the room, slowly raised his hand. "Yes?" said the instructor. "I was just wondering if it would be all right if she carries a golf bag, while we walk?" Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it? This kind of sensitivity just can't be taught.
