1 Roleystone Theatre CALLBOY March 2009 Theatre Website Kylie and Jason Grima have been doing amazing things with our website!! Visit to have a look. It has general information about the theatre, production information and lots and lots of photos amongst other things! If you have photos or information you would like to have considered for inclusion please Bree or Zyg. Thankyou to the Grima s for all their hard work setting it up and the ongoing maintenance. We have a website to be proud of. PRODUCTION MANAGERS REQUIRED It has been noted that quite often the Director of a production is busy actually directing the show and has little time for jobs such as publicity and cast organisation for cleaning etc. A motion was duly passed that all future shows have a nominated Production Manager. This position would entail ensuring rehearsal schedules are prepared and liasing with the appropriate theatre members regarding publicity, posters, ticketing, makeup, costumes etc. etc. Basically the role is being created to ensure the smooth running of shows and assist Directors in allowing them to, wouldn t you know it, DIRECT!! Nominations were to have been called for these positions at the February AGM however interested individuals should contact a committee member to lodge their interest. Roleystone Theatre March 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21 Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Directed by Paul Treasure and Vocal Direction by Sarah Cosstick On 22 November 1963 a single shot changed the world forever. This was neither the last, nor the first time. Seven men and two women from 120 years of American History get together to explore the motivations and madnesses that made them all... One of the most daring, surprising, deepest & funniest musicals ever written. Submission Deadline: Please phone through or your submissions for next month s callboy. These need to be forwarded to me by the 25 th of each month so there is plenty of time to get the edition completed, to the printer and then posted. Any information or photos are welcome and remember the callboy is a great way to let other members know what is going on in the world of theatre and normal life. Bree Hartley: or , bree_hartley@netspace.net.au or breehartley@hotmail.com
2 President s Report Thank you to all of you for attending our A.G.M. It was good to see a large number attend this very important meeting, especially with so much being achieved in Also many thanks for your confidence in me being your President for I promise I will continue the work on your behalf in improving our facilities, which are much needed. I have included in this edition a report on the Earth Work s. It has been very messy but it is looking fantastic. It is such an improvement & safer to how it was. We had a council inspection on the work carried out inside the Theatre and the Council were delighted on what we have achieved (See Letter Included ). The council were correct in saying that our Theatre is a well-maintained building, as we have spent a lot of time in keeping it clean. My thanks to the council for cleaning all of the gutters around the Theatre. It is a hard job due to the roof being so high, and I wouldn t expect any member to do this job for the danger. We have employed the services of a Gardener to regularly keep an eye on the garden. So far all of the roses have been pruned, garden beds have been mulched and trees trimmed as well as weed killer being applied to Cooch. Our seating has now been fully installed, & Bill the Upholster has done a fantastic job in repairing our seating. My thanks to Bobby & Gerry in re-installing the seating and liaising with the carpet layer when I was in Dubai. The Stage Curtains have been hung & we are in the throes of having the bottom of them weighted with chain. My congratulations must go to the new committee elected at the A.G.M. It is good to see some new faces and I look forward to working with you. We are having our first meeting soon, and one of the first things to be discussed will be the re-wiring & re-roofing of the Auditorium submission to the council. We also will be looking at obtaining advice & Quotes on re flooring the Stage. This is well overdue. Lastly please book your tickets for our latest product ASSASSINS. Paul & Sarah have put in an enormous effort, as well as the cast & crew in getting the show into what promises to be a brilliant production. Ticket sales have been a bit slow, so please make an effort to attend. I promise you a highly entertaining show. We need your support. Regards Zyg Past Recipients of the Gold Roley If you can remember the year that you or another member received the Gold Roley Award please contact Kim Fletcher on We are hoping to collate this information for posterity! It s that time of year again Membership runs out at the end of March every year and this means it is membership renewal time. Please visit the theatre website ( to print off a membership form or pick one up from the Theatre when you come to see Assassins. This then needs to be returned to the Theatre along with your remittance ASAP. If payment has not been received by May, you will cease to receive the callboy and other member benefits. If you paid your membership during the November/December 2008 time period you are covered for 2009.

Storage space The Theatre is in the final stages of organising a storage lock-up to hold our good quality prop furniture and other props that are likely to be damaged if stored under the Theatre. This will ensure that any special items are available in good order for many years to come plus the added advantage of reducing the jumble under the Theatre.
4 Above: Complimentary letter from the council re: upkeep of the Theatre building Earth Work Up-Date. The Embankment Stabilisation carried out by The City of Armadale is nearly complete. A large amount of earth has been removed. Drainage has been completed and posts are being set in concrete, ready for the Twin-Side retaining wall. This will be approx 1.5 metres high. A Bob Cat has also started making a path from the cast car park thru to the Green Room. This will be approx 1.2 metres in width. The Council will concrete the path, complete with steps, and all we will need to do is provide some orientation lighting for safety. This gives us two entry points to the Green Room from the car park. There has been a lot of mess with the Earth Works with large amounts of dust entering the Theatre. Bobbie & Gerry have been fantastic with cleaning up the mess. (My) gratitude to the both of you. Well done. ZYG
