1 Roleystone Theatre CALLBOY May 2012 Much Ado About Roleystone Theatre Rehearsals have started for this production and director Paul Treasure says it's looking to be an interesting show! However, there are still a couple of parts left to fill for year olds, both male and female roles. If you were hesitating before or missed out on auditioning PLEASE make contact with Paul Treasure ( , pauljtreasure@gmail.com) to discuss the show and the roles still available. Easiest way to do renew: Pay by bank transfer Message: Your name. Acct Name: Roleystone Theatre Inc. BSB Acct # (& send in membership form (by mail, in person, or scan and ) a new completed form is required every year to keep details up to date) Submission Deadline: Please phone through or your submissions for next month s Callboy. These need to be forwarded to me by the 1st of each month so there is plenty of time to get the edition completed, to the printer and then posted. Any information or photos are welcome and remember the Callboy is a great way to let other members know what is going on in the world of theatre and normal life. 2 President s Report Well, it s a quiet time for our Theatre as we sit between productions and in the planning stages for social events. By next month s Callboy we should have dates and details of events and be really starting to promote our next production Much Ado About Nothing. The Theatre members who helped out the Roleystone Country Club by giving of their time and talent in the Old Time Music Hall were richly rewarded with a very large and enthusiastic audience. See page 6 for photos. Thank you to Bobbie and Gerry for bringing the group together and keeping the energy up. A small group of volunteers made the tidy sum of $500 for our Theatre last month by pretending to be a gang of paparazzi as part of the Youth Film Festival. Thank you so much to those volunteers. I understand they outnumbered the public (!) but had a great time hanging out together!. If you have any ideas for social events or special club nights please don t hesitate to make contact with either myself or a committee member. We would dearly love to put together events that people will actually attend! To that end we need to know what you would be interested in. We are all busy people however taking the time to remain a community of people who share a common love of Theatre, and who occasionally socialise together, will keep our club strong. The ITA Quiz night is coming up very soon. It would be great if a table from Roley Theatre was in the top three so go ahead and put together a winning table! Details are on page 5. 5 ITA news Quiz Night The ITA quiz night will be held on the 9 th June at City West Lotteries House, 8pm start. Tables of 8 and as places are limited please book by ing rtaaffe@y7mail.com. Tickets are $10 per head and there will be a cash bar on the night. Bring a table from your club or just those fantastic friends who love quiz nights. This year the organisers would love to see everyone dressed up as their favourite theatrical character!! There will be prizes for the best-dressed individual. Go along and join in the fun. Christmas in July Sundowner A Christmas in July ITA Sundowner will be held on the 6th of July at Playlovers, 6:30-9:30pm, in Hackett Hall. It s a great opportunity to meet old friends and new, discuss the year, as well as see in the mid-year silly season. Other sundowners have been a great success and are always a lot of fun. Car Rally The ITA will be organising a car rally in August. These are so much fun and a great way to spend time with friends arguing about how to find clues, arguing about how to read a map book, arguing about who didn t look properly. FUN I tell you!! RSA list If you have your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate and you are interested in helping community theatre in Perth, you could put your name on a list of back-up bar staff. The idea is that there is a centralised list of people with their RSA so should a club be really stuck for a bar person one night they can access the list and hopefully find someone to help out. Please contact Paul Treasure ( , pauljtreasure@gmail.com) to put your details on the list. It is an ongoing problem and the appearance of the Theatre would benefit greatly from more hands pulling weeds!
6 OLD TIME MUSIC HALL The one-off show at the Roleystone Country Club on Friday May 4 th was a complete success. The audience was full to bursting so as a fundraising venture for the Country Club it went very well. The audience reveled in the opportunity to hear and sing along with a beloved repertoire of songs that doesn!t often get an airing. They also had the opportunity to laugh, boo, hiss and cheer with the expertly done melodrama (ok, poetic license there with the expertly descriptor the melodrama was made even more amusing by the fact that it was evident many characters forgot their lines!). It was a fabulous, fantastic and fun filled extravaganza. Those that participated got a real buzz from the audience and enjoyed the community feel. OLD TIME MUSIC HALL Backstage shenanigans!
