2 President s Report It was a very disappointing turn out to our General Meeting. This was a good opportunity for members to hear what the committee has achieved this year & what the plans are for next year as well as what productions we have lined up for We failed to get a quorum but decided to conduct the meeting for those whom attended. This has been a huge year for the committee, not only dealing with the 75 th Anniversary celebrations but also planning on where our money should be spent. You all would off read about the Ignite Fund offered to the Theatres from the previous Government. Well the good news is the New Arts Minister Mr John Day has finally signed of on this. The announcement as to who got what will be revealed this week. I am confident we will get a share of the money offered. The new plans for the earthworks were shown and we are waiting for the Council to implement this project. The plan is now to terrace the embankment rather than build a retaining wall. This will be landscaped as well. The work will be done in-house by Councils Work Force. Any aspects of the work they cannot do will be contracted out. The council have applied to there environment group to remove three trees. They would like to commence work in November. I am very keen for this work to start and can t wait for this to finally happen. The Theatre was asked to participate in the zoo s 110 th Birthday celebrations. They required some of our members to don costumes, walk around the grounds meeting patrons as well as handing out leaflets. We jumped at the chance. Thanks must go to Bobbie Chapman, Jo Padgett & Maureen Woltersdorf whom raided the wardrobe to get suitable costumes out, and to all who volunteered there time on the Saturday & the Sunday. You all did the Theatre proud & the $2, payment from the zoo will be well spent. My thanks to Kaelene McKay for putting our name forward. Don t forget to put your name forward for either bar duties or the kiosk during The Sound of Music as Bree & Daniel are busy with the Show. See you at the Theatre. Regards Zyg Roleystone Theatre Inc. GENERAL MEETING 2008 Was poorly attended please make the effort to come to our Annual General meeting in February The theatre can not survive without an active membership. PRODUCTION MANAGERS REQUIRED At a recent committee meeting it was noted that quite often the Director of a production is busy directing the show and has little time for jobs such as publicity and cast organisation for cleaning etc. A motion was duly passed that all future shows have a nominated Production Manager. Nominations will be called for this position at the February AGM in 2009 with a job description to be included in the callboy nearer the time. If you have a flair for organising people please put up your hand.

Rowan Henderson (11) who has been a Roleystone theatre Member for the past couple of years, has been an active Scottish highland dancer since she was 4 1/2. She has participated in competitions in Perth and around Australia since 2004; most recently in Adelaide in June 2008 where she was the runner up in Restricted Premier 12 & under and 6th overall in the 12 & under Championship. Earlierin 2008 she competed in the national Champion of Champions competition in Newcastle in April, where she placed runner up in the 12 & under National Premiership to Anthea Bundy from Scotland. She was the highest placed Australian dancer in this section, competing against over 20 dancers from around Australia, New Zealand and, Scotland! Caitlin Henderson (now aged 9) also competed in Newcastle and won 2nd place for her sword dance in Beginners 8 years against dancers from around Australia. They love maintaining their Scottish heritage and have made many friends around Australia and even the world through their sport, which is highly athletic and requires much stamina, discipline and lots of practice! Both girls will be competing at the Armadale Highland Gathering, being held at Minnawarra Park, Armadale on the 15th November This will be the 7th year that Rowan has competed at the event, and Caitlin's 3rd year.
5 Creagh Barker Associates November/December season of The Sound of Music Bob Hill and his new wife, Betty, are vacationing in Europe; as it happens, in Transylvania. They're driving a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It's late, and raining very hard. Bob can barely see 10 feet in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail. The car swerves and smashes into a tree. Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his new wife unconscious, with her head bleeding. Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to carry her to the nearest phone. Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is coming from an old, large house. He approaches the door and knocks. A minute passes. A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife, Betty. We've been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone??" "I'm sorry," replies the hunchback, "but we don't have a phone. My master is a doctor. Come in and I will get him." Bob brings his wife in. An elegant man comes down the stairs. "I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor. I am a scientist. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory." With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries; so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table. After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried. "Things are serious, Igor. Prepare a transfusion." Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more. The Hills' death upsets Igor's master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his pipe organ. For it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting melody fills the house. Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. As the music fills the lab, his eyes catch movement. He notices the fingers on Betty Hill's hand twitch. Stunned, he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise! He is further amazed as Betty sits straight up! Unable to contain himself, he dashes up stairs to the conservatory. He bursts in and shouts to his master: "Master, Master!...The Hills are alive with the sound of music!"
