8 2019 Organ Restoration The Father Willis Organ at Salisbury is one of our Cathedral s great treasures, and is still fulfilling its purpose 140 years after it was installed in It is now due for an extensive programme of repair and restoration. This is perhaps not surprising, given that since its last overhaul in 1993, the instrument has been used daily. The organ will be out of action for the whole of 2019 while this vital work is carried out. There are no plans to alter the unique sound of our magnificent instrument, which sounds very much as it did when Willis completed it in The Cathedral needs help to fund this important work, and our fundraising campaign is launched as part of this series. Please help us secure the future of this marvellous organ.
