1 Seasons Greetings! Experience Where Magic Meets Main Street as Xenia celebrates Hometown Christmas on Saturday, December 10, Explore Xenia is proud to keep the tradition of Hometown Christmas. The 2016 season features the theme Window Winterland, an event where Downtown Xenia will deck their windows and stores in holiday splendor to warm your hearts and get you in the holiday spirit. Local merchants will be on hand with great gift ideas and special pricing for everyone on your holiday list. Explore Xenia while you enjoy the Window Winterland planned special events for the holiday season. Downtown merchants and community organizations participation is the magic of Main Street that welcome merrymakers to participate in a wide array of yuletide fun. Window Winterland Activities are growing bigger than Santa s list and include: The Window Winterland Adventure, Window Winterland Window decorating contest, Ugly Sweater Reindeer Run, Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall, Christmas at the Xenia Station, Back to Bethlehem, Caroling at Cornerstone Baptist Church, XHS Jazz Band at Willies, Kringle Karaoke at the Courthouse, Breakfast with Santa & Crafts at YMCA, Holiday Parade that welcomes a visit with Santa at Towards Independence, Letters to Santa and Soldiers, Elves Workshop at Sip & Dipity featuring Snow globe painting, PEACH Homeschool Bake and Craft Sale at Narrow Path Plumbing, Horse and Carriage Rides, an X* Act Performance of Little Women, Polar Express Storytelling and Activities for Children, Hot Cocoa bar at Montgomery Investments, Cider and Cookie decorating at Sweets Boutique---Shopping, Dining & More Our ultimate objective is to attract people to celebrate the tradition of downtown Xenia. 2 Xenia Hometown Christmas Presents: The Inaugural- Ugly Sweater Reindeer Run Winterland Walk Saturday, December 10th Start Time 12:00 Noon Check-in begins at 11:00 AM Location: Xenia Station, 150 South Miami Avenue, Xenia, OH GIVE THE GIFT OF VOLUNTEERING CONTACT REBECCA CANTRELL AT (937) OR FOR DATE, TIME, LOCATION OPPORTUNITIES Run, Run Rudolphs, Santa s gotta make it downtown- Pull out your ugliest HOLIDAY sweater, grab a friend and put on those sneakers as Xenia Hometown Christmas in partnership with Madcab Events hosts the ultimate Ugly Sweater Reindeer Run and Winterland Walk. Jingle your way through an approximate 3.1-mile route that starts and finishes at Xenia Station and take you through downtown Xenia. This race has something for the entire family- whether you are a competitive runner, every day runner or just want to walk to add to your holiday cheer. Have yourself a merry little run knowing a portion of event proceeds benefits the Xenia Police Department community outreach programs. Registration Details Cost: $25 Ages 15+ * $15 Ages 8-14 (No cost for kids under age 8) * Add $10 for T-shirt *$35 Walk up registration fee Reindeer Run/ Walkers Receive: Race bib with disposable timing chip Drink ticket Holiday goodie bags to the 1 st 150 participants Participant Post-Race Contest Awards: Ugliest sweater (Adult and Kids divisions) Best Holiday Spirit (Team and Individual) Best Santa Beard (real or fake) Men, Women & Kids Race divisions 50s+ 40s 30s 20s Teens (19-13) Kids (12-8) Registration details will be available on the Xenia Downtown FB and Speedy Feet race site by October 1, 2016.
3 Window Winterland Tis the season to be JOLLY- so deck your windows with boughs of holly or whatever makes your spirits bright! Explore Xenia invites downtown businesses and historic homes with storefront windows to a showcase Where Magic Meets Main Street by entering the Window Winterland Decorating Contest. The Window Decorating Contest is a fun way to celebrate the Holiday Season, create a beautiful downtown, attract visitors to downtown Xenia and showcase your business Participating businesses will receive marketing materials to share with shoppers encouraging them to explore the downtown and enjoy the many festively decorated businesses. Downtown Xenia will also be inviting people to visit our downtown to shop and then to vote for their favorite storefront. The contest begins November 24 and continues through December 10 and window decorations are on display through the New Year. COMMUNITY CHOICE VOTING MADE SIMPLE: Visit the many downtown Xenia restaurant and shopping sites. After viewing the wonderful storefronts, cast your vote for the Community Choice Award on-line at OR scan the QR Code on the window that sends you to the survey. Voting for the Community Choice Award will be open from November 24 to December 10. Window Winterland winners will be announced on the City of Xenia website and Downtown Xenia Face Book page by December 17. Recipients will receive awards at the following City Hall meeting. SHARE WHERE MAGIC MEETS MAIN STREET Take a selfie or a group photo in front of or inside a participating business. Post that photo to our FB page with the hashtag #xeniahometownchristmas for a chance to win a $100 Downtown Xenia Gift Card or other cool prizes. The FB contest runs from November 25 through December 10. During the contest, our secret panel of elves will surf our Facebook determining which selfie and group photos best captures the Hometown Holiday spirit & The Magic on Main Street. THE WINDOW WINTERLAND ADVENTURE Contestants will journey through the sites and activities of downtown Xenia solving clues and completing activities that lead them to different destinations around downtown. Teams that complete all window Winterland adventures can register to win awards and prizes.
