7 Directed by Andre Semenza and Fernanda Lippi, founders of critically acclaimed Anglo-Brazilian physical theatre company Zikzira, makers of Ashes of God ( Stupendous Time Out Critic s Choice Intense, flashbacking and highly stylized dance drama BBC) Set in remote forest landscapes and interiors in rural 19th century Sweden, Sea without Shore was photographed in cinema-scope by award-winning British director of photography, Marcus Waterloo. Post-produced at Pinewood Studios, the film features a sound design supervised by Academy-Award and multiple BAFTA winner Glenn Freemantle ( Gravity ). The original music was created by pioneering composer The Hafler Trio (aka Andrew McKenzie who has collaborated with Chris Watson of Cabaret Voltaire, Fluxus artist Willem de Ridder, Nurse With Wound, Autechre, Jónsi Birgisson of Sigur Rós, amongst others) using the cast s sonic imprints for the creation of the soundtrack, which, in turn, was used on location. The cast thus performed inside a cloak of their own sound, in pursuit of a visceral, emotional truth. 6 SEA WITHOUT SHORE

15 The Directors Andre Semenza Founder of independent film production company Maverick Motion Ltd, film director Andre Semenza studied at the London International Film School and the London Drama Studio and subsequently worked in various capacities in physical theatre, opera and cinema. His critically acclaimed films, such as the pioneering dance feature film As Cinzas de Deus, have been exhibited at numerous international film festivals and art house cinemas. Co-founder of Zikzira Physical Theatre, Andre has directed and produced the company s live productions and films. With Fernanda Lippi, he curates the Zikzira Action Space, officially opened by Jarek Fret, director of the The Grotowski Institute (the first Brazilian organization to host the Institute), the London International School of Performing Arts, The Hafler Trio, amongst many others. Fernanda Lippi Award-winning Brazil-born choreographer Fernanda Lippi, co-founder of Zikzira Physical Theatre, has produced critically acclaimed work for film, stage and site-specific venues. Fernanda was awarded full scholarship and graduated from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London. As a solo artist, she performed Canvas at the Tate Modern. Since 2001, Fernanda has choreographed all of Zikzira s live productions and films which have been performed and exhibited to packed houses at festivals and cinemas in Brazil and in Europe, such as The Riverside Studios, The Barbican, Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), Teatro Akropolis (Italy). She has taught Dance for the Screen at The Place and London and InShadow (Lisbon).
