1 CONTACT: Amy Horan Marketing and Publicity Supervisor x106 DATE: Friday, July 21, 2017 STUDIO ANNOUNCES TWO WEEK EXTENSION OF TARELL ALVIN MCCRANEY'S WIG OUT!, DIRECTED BY KENT GASH Wig Out! in an updated version by Tarell Alvin McCraney directed by Kent Gash now extended through August 20 Following in the footsteps of Studio's sold-out summer smashes (Hand to God, Silence! The Musical, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show), Tarell Alvin McCraney's Wig Out! has been extended for two additional weeks, by popular demand. Inspired by house ballroom culture and its competitive dance-offs, Studio's Stage 4 has been transformed into an underground pageant, and audiences walk the runway as they choose their seats none more than four rows from the action. Wig Out! now runs through August 20th. Tarell Alvin McCraney, who recently received an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Moonlight, updated the script of Wig Out! for its Studio Theatre run. McCraney is joined by longtime artistic collaborator director Kent Gash. Gash developed Wig Out! at the 2007 Sundance Theatre Lab and directed Studio's 2015 production of McCraney's Choir Boy. Wig Out! marks McCraney's fifth production at Studio, making him one of Studio's most produced playwrights. We were thrilled to welcome Tarell and Kent back to Studio. With their phenomenal cast and creative team, they've created something both sensational and real, and audiences are responding said Artistic Director David Muse. Wig Out! has struck a chord in DC, and we're happy more audiences will be able to experience the spectacle and emotional depth of this production. About Wig Out!

2 When Eric falls for the handsome Wilson on the subway, he doesn t know what he s in for. Because Wilson is also Nina, a rising drag star in The House of Light. When a competing house calls a ball for midnight, Eric is drawn into battle. Part turf war, part pageant, all conquest, Wig Out! is a mesmerizing trip into the heart of African-American drag ball culture by way of Ovid, Jay-Z, and Destiny s Child. From the acclaimed author of The Brother/Sister Trilogy and Choir Boy comes a dazzling spectacle about the timeless desires to be desired, find your home, and dominate anyone who throws you shade.
