2 you're hired Jeff Mahoney joins Premier On February 19th 2014, Jeff Mahoney joined our company as the Vice President of Global Business Development. Jeff comes to us with 19 years of experience in the Corporate Housing industry. In his last position as Executive Vice President, Jeff and his sales teams were responsible for generating all the billing revenues throughout the Northeast region. Jeff was responsible for furnished apartments, furniture rental, inventory control and growing insurance housing services. As Executive Vice President, Jeff was a member of the Executive Team, where he provided strategic input into the company s Operations and Customer Service. Jeff will bring a depth of knowledge and expertise that will significantly add to our growth in 2014 and for many years to come. our conference speaker Kevin Toomer to speak at the National CHPA Conference Jeff Mahoney, Michelle Falcinelli, and Kevin Toomer attended the CHPA National Conference in New Orleans, LA from February 25th 26th. The CHPA will host its inaugural Northeast Regional Conference from April 30 May 1, 2014 in NYC. The restaurant choices are endless so whatever you are craving there is a restaurant to satisfy.

6 My Pre-Theater choice: Becco Located on Restaurant Row 46th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues. Becco is one of Famed Chef Lidia Bastianich s restaurants she opened with her son Joe over 20 years ago. Be sure to arrive hungry, my favorite is the Sinfonia di Paste which includes a salad, antipasta and unlimited table side preparation of three pasta dishes. Another highlight is the extensive wine list, and all wines are twenty five dollars. Off the Beaten Path: Risotteria Melotti Lower East Side 309 5th Street between 1st & 2nd Avenues This is a charming restaurant with a great story. The rice is grown on the Melotti family farm outside of Verona, Italy. The family opened their first restaurant near their Italian village. Last spring the family decided to open their second restaurant in New York on the lower east side. The risotto is cooked perfectly. I suggest the Arancia e Granchio (with Maine Crab meat). The service is outstanding and you can even purchase the organic rice and rice flour to give risotto-making a try at home. I almost forgot to mention all meals are without gluten. Bon Appétit Therese Riehle Business Development Manager sports Yankee Baseball: Derek Jeter's Farewell Season Fewer things I like to do more on a summer evening than watch baseball. Sure today s TVs have high definition where you can feel like you are at the stadium, but there is something magical when you are actually at Yankee Stadium. My earliest memories take me to the Stadium when my father left work early to make sure we were there for batting practice I caught a ball Billy Martin threw into the stands. Years later at 35, I caught a foul ball A-Rod hit down the first base line. Yankee Stadium is the field that holds both tradition and promise. It is considered sacred ground in the baseball world. This year we are going to say goodbye to Derek Jeter like we did last year to Mariano

7 Rivera. They join the past Yankee greats who made Yankee Stadium what it is today: The house where heroes are enshrined and reinvented. Matt Scully National Sales Manager The TD Five Boro Bike Tour The TD Five Boro Bike Tour Presented by REI offers 32,000 cyclists the opportunity to bike through all five boroughs Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island on streets totally void of traffic. The event is co-produced by Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation. Unfortunately, standard registration to participate in this event is now closed. You can still register as a VIP, which is a bit pricier but certainly worth the price of admission. Whether you decide to don a helmet or not- if you re in the City that day, seeing 30,000+ bikes cruising by on NYC streets will be a spectacle to behold indeed. On 5/4/14 be on the lookout for two intrepid Premier cyclists who will ride in the tour; Steven Avalos and myself. 8 live music in "da boroughs" The Northside Music Festival Maybe you didn t make it to Austin for the infamous South by Southwest music and media conference, but you can still get your indie-rock music fix with Williamsburg s 6th annual Northside Music Festival. Coming in June, nearly every music venue in Williamsburg and Greenpoint- Brooklyn will claim host to a combined 400 bands. Any place from dive bar to music hall will feature the up-and-coming garage talent of a creative and blogger-marketed youth. Focus groups will also revolve around art, film, technology, and design. Last year was a real eyeopener for me when I stumbled across my nextfavorite live band; The Harmonica Lewinski s. (I ve had about seven favorite bands since then). Ross Remmel Client Relationship Manager in my opinion Why I Love Jazz After Dark In NYC Ok, I ll admit it. I m one of the elder statesmen at Premier. Go easy on the old-guy jokes. We have a young staff here. This puts me in the unenviable position of being, among other things, a stalwart fan of classic and modern jazz. For those of you in the know, jazz is considered a true American art form. It was born and raised here in the USA and in many ways helped shape the social scene in New York City. Sadly, it s a dying genre among today s music tastes. Jazz isn t an exciting feature at The Grammys and jazz artists are no longer household names. Let s face it- we may never see an artist like Dee Dee Bridgewater perform at the halftime show of the Super Bowl. Despite the decline of my beloved jazz, there are still great places to listen to live jazz in New York City. Many of these venues have historic pasts like the Village Vanguard, which launched the career of jazz legend; Thelonius Monk. Others like Minton s on West 118th Street have been newly renovated yet still pay homage to days past when a ticket to sit in on a set by a noteworthy trio or quartet might have been one of the hottest in town. There s still something special and electric about seeing a live performance at a New York City jazz standard. Perhaps it s the charm of these small, dark venues that enable you to sit so close to the performers. Or the diversity of their audiences that appear to arrive from nowhere and hail from all corners of the globe. And of course there s the music; driven by improvisation and never played quite the same way twice. Music fans, if you re looking to try something new- I recommend you pick up a copy of TimeOut NY. Check the local listings and take in a set at one of NYC s jazz standards. You won t soon forget it. I hope to see you there.

To avoid the crowds, arrive early. The line to enter the MoMA for No-Charge Fridays may appear long, but it tends to move quickly. Maximize your time at the MoMA and dodge the crowds by arriving as close to 4PM as possible, and take the escalator to the 5th floor and work your way down through the galleries.
