Not so in the House of Amazement. When you are amazed you tend to go quit and pause for a moment, keeping your eyes, ears and often even your mouth open. In turn, openness arouses curiosity and enhances our ability to take things in The House of Amazement is again to host to an extraordinary event of several days duration with high-class international musicians Overtone workshops for musicians, singers, but also for persons without musical precognition will take place at several locations throughout the town of Gmünd. Informative talks and special guided tours in the House of Amazement will educate about the overtone phenomenon. Additionally, the workshop instructors and overtone musicians will inspire you with a wonderful concert. Overtone singing is one of the most fascinating vocal phenomena of our time. Everyone can learn how to do it This special singing technique creates the impression of a polyphone sensation, which leaves you awestruck: a single singer is able to create two (or more) sounds at the same time! Overtone chanting does not only require the skill of singing, but moreover the virtuosity of hearing. You are invited to explore your voice s potential from a new perspective, connect with like-minded musicians and enjoy unique concerts.

4 Workshop Instructors & Contributors Anna-Maria Hefele Anna-Maria Hefele is an overtone singer and voice artist. She plays nyckelharpa, harp & other instruments. The graduate of the Carl Orff Institute, at the Mozarteum University Salzburg has the special skill to sing with a polyphonic solo voice. She amazes with appearances in the media and on YouTube, where her videos achieve over 10 million hits. In her workshop, intermediate Overtone singers will learn to produce their own overtones in a clearer and louder manner and to reproduce tunes and songs. There will be an introduction to polyphone overtone singing with changing roots Wolfgang Saus Overtone singer, classical baritone, vocal coach and author is the founder of an overtone choir and cofounder of the musical software overtone analyzer. His workshop is not only aimed at advanced overtone singers but also at musicians, teachers and therapists. Participants will learn techniques to help them to produce clear overtones and to sing overtone melodies to instruments. The relaxing and wholesome effect of overtones will be intensified. Hans Tschiritsch He is an overtone singer, musician, clown composer and a research scientist for tones. Additionally, he builds instruments and since the middle of the 1980s, he creates sound machines. His workshop for beginners and those who think of themselves as being not musical, deals with listening, feeling, relaxation and harmony. 7 Pankratium Gmünd the House of Amazement a meeting point of art and science The former St. Antonius Spital from the 12 th century, one of the oldest buildings of the artists town Gmünd in Carinthia, has been used extensively since the Middle Ages - as a hospital, birthplace, school and senior residence. On the initiative of the musician and music pedagogy Manfred Tischitz, the reconstruction of the building took place in Comprehensive renovations (architect Eva Rubin) had the goal of the restoration of the original building fabric. The House of Amazement scores with a wonderful architectural substance and a manageable number of experience stations that are not overwhelming to visitors. What has emerged in a small way develops into a subtle field of experience of astonishment. In the non-profit association pankratiumgmünd, many people who have developed a special relationship to this place, as well as many artists, educators and scientists, are making a meaningful use of the house.
