Weekly Ferris Community Summer Band Concerts which are free and open to the public are presented outdoors throughout the greater Big Rapids area. All of them support local community activities and organizations, such as preservation of the Big Rapids Old Jail, the Spectrum Big Rapids Hospital Community Block Party and Health Fair, the Canadian Lakes Association, and the Big Rapids Band Shell Summer Concert Series. Each concert features a different program, making for rich musical experiences for performers and listeners alike. This Communiversity Band is open to musically experienced adults and high school students, and advanced middle school students. The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2018 Rehearsal Dates are: May 30; June 4, 11, 18 & 25; and July 2. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band. It is also possible to take Summer Band for credit through FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY as Music 160. So, for all of you musicians out there, young and old, grab your horns, jump on the bandwagon, and come help fill our summer skies with the sweet sounds of music, by joining us for as many of the weekly cycles of rehearsals and concerts as you re able to make! Weekly Ferris Community Summer Band Concerts which are free and open to the public are presented outdoors throughout the greater Big Rapids area. All of them support local community activities and organizations, such as preservation of the Big Rapids Old Jail, the Spectrum Big Rapids Hospital Community Block Party and Health Fair, the Canadian Lakes Association, and the Big Rapids Band Shell Summer Concert Series. Each concert features a different program, making for rich musical experiences for performers and listeners alike. This Communiversity Band is open to musically experienced adults and high school students, and advanced middle school students. The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2018 Rehearsal Dates are: May 30; June 4, 11, 18 & 25; and July 2. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band. It is also possible to take Summer Band for credit through FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY as Music 160.
