Weekly Ferris Community Summer Band Concerts which are free and open to the public are presented outdoors throughout the greater Big Rapids area. All of them support local community activities and organizations, such as preservation of the Big Rapids Old Jail, the Mecosta County Medical Center Auxiliary s Community Block Party, the Canadian Lakes Association, and the Big Rapids Band Shell Concert Summer Series. Each concert features a different program, making for rich musical encounters for performers and listeners alike. This Communiversity Band is open to musically experienced adults, high school students, and advanced middle school students. The band rehearses on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2013 rehearsal dates are: June 5, 10, 17, 24, and July 1 & 8. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band. It is also possible to take Summer Band for credit at FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY as Music 160. So for all of you musicians out there, young and old even if you haven t had your horn out of the case for a while go grab your horns, hop on the bandwagon, and come help fill our summer skies with the sweet sounds of music by joining us for as many of the weekly cycles of rehearsals and concerts as you re able to make! Weekly Ferris Community Summer Band Concerts which are free and open to the public are presented outdoors throughout the greater Big Rapids area. All of them support local community activities and organizations, such as preservation of the Big Rapids Old Jail, the Mecosta County Medical Center Auxiliary s Community Block Party, the Canadian Lakes Association, and the Big Rapids Band Shell Concert Summer Series. Each concert features a different program, making for rich musical encounters for performers and listeners alike. This Communiversity Band is open to musically experienced adults, high school students, and advanced middle school students. The band rehearses on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2013 rehearsal dates are: June 5, 10, 17, 24, and July 1 & 8. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band. It is also possible to take Summer Band for credit at FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY as Music 160. So for all of you musicians out there, young and old even if you haven t had your horn out of the case for a while go grab your horns, hop on the bandwagon, and come help fill our summer skies with the sweet sounds of music by joining us for as many of the weekly cycles of rehearsals and concerts as you re able to make!
