1 Back to School Checklist Read through the RMS Band Handbook and sign/return the Handbook Acknowledgement Form. Fill out the Medical Release Form, RMS Band Order Form, and (if applicable) the Private Lesson Sign up Form. Return these to Mrs. Probst by August 18 th. Look carefully over the order form before returning. Try to turn in at least the $125 band fee by August 18th, even if you wait on paying for other items. We will be selling Coca-Cola products the first two weeks of school, in order to help you defray this expense. Also, please make sure you circle a size for your child s band shirts. Look over the Recommended Instrument/Supply list. Parents of beginners, this guide will help you so much in getting your child off to a good start in band. Parents of 7 th /8 th graders, please look at the suggested mouthpieces/supplies and consider purchasing them for your child. These will improve their sound and make playing easier. For your convenience, Gadsden Music will be hosting RMS Night at their shop on Thursday, August 10 th, 4:30-6:30PM. They are located at 607 Broad Street, Gadsden. Log into CHARMS as soon as possible and familiarize yourself with it. Please make sure your contact details are up-to-date and look over your financial statement. I update this all the time, so you can know what fundraising credits your child has received, what payments you have already made, and what payments are still outing. If you are unsure of how to log in, see the instructions on the other side of this paper. Sign up for Remind Texts (see instructions). You can receive free informational texts from me without giving out your cell number. Check out our band website! This will become the primary way I keep you informed about everything RMS Band. Any information or printed materials you need will be posted there throughout the year.

2 How To Use Charms Charms Office Assistant is a cloud-based website built for school music programs to keep track of student/parent information and band-related finances. Charms is the RMS Band s primary means of communication and accounting. Every member of our band receives a login user name and can login at any time. Here are the instructions for accessing your account: 1. Go to the CHARMS website or access it from our website. or 2. Enter our school code: pridemusicassociation (all lowercase) 3. For the student area password, enter your personal password (see label on the front of this paper.) 4. From here, you can make changes to your contact information and view your band account.

6 Private Lesson Sign-Up Students studying music education at Jacksonville State University frequently come to teach private lessons to our RMS band students during or after school. This is a WONDERFUL opportunity for your child to really excel musically, as he or she can receive more personalized instruction. The cost is $100 per semester for eight lessons. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please fill out the form below and return it by August 18th. Please also fill out the RMS Band 6 th Grade or 7 th /8 th Grade Order Form and return it with your payment (The $100 fee can be broken up as needed, and fundraising profits may also be applied.)
