Many people across the Merseyrail network volunteer their time to adopt their local station through our Station Adoption scheme. Getting communities involved in their local stations has many benefits which include: James Street station and station improvements Refurbishment works continue at the city centre stations. This timetable sees the re-opening of the newly-refurbished James Street Platform 1. Platform 3 (the platform served by trains from Liverpool travelling towards Wirral) is now closed until Monday 22 April 2013 for its refurbishment. Passengers can catch trains towards Wirral from, or stations, or can board Wirral-bound trains from James Street Platform 1 and then travel around the loop. On Monday 22 April 2013 platform (lower level) will close for refurbishment. However, trains will continue to run around the loop without stopping at. Further details will be available nearer the time. Improvements around the network Merseytravel, in partnership with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has created two new park and ride facilities on the Wirral Line at Bidston and Birkenhead North stations. Providing 464 new spaces, the facilities include dedicated Blue Badge parking, lighting and CCTV coverage, secure fencing and landscaping within the sites, improving access onto the rail network with links to Wrexham, Birkenhead and Liverpool. At both locations former brownfield land, made available through Wirral MBC, has been used. Changes in this timetable: The timetables are changed to show trains calling at James Street Platform 1 but not at James Street Platform 3. Times are changed on the Wrexham to Bidston line.
