3 Hi Welcome to your timetable for journeys between Matlock, Derby and Nottingham during Derby Resignalling. Between 22nd July and 7th October, our partners at Network Rail will be delivering the biggest upgrade to the railway to and through Derby station for decades. It will improve the punctuality and performance of trains to, from and through Derby for years to come, but while the works are being carried out, it will mean some disruption and changes to your journeys. East Midlands Trains, CrossCountry and Network Rail are working in partnership to make sure you are kept fully informed about the work taking place and how it will affect you. This timetable covers the entire period of the works for journeys between Matlock, Derby and Nottingham, including replacement bus schedules. Separate timetables have also been produced for East Midlands Trains services between Derby and Crewe and on the Midland Main Line, as well as a CrossCountry timetable highlighting impacted services. It s an important part of our commitment to putting you first and helping you travel with confidence. The impact on journeys does change between 22nd July and 7th October, so please be sure to check the timetable applies to you especially if you don t travel every day. 4 Services between Nottingham and Matlock Trains to and from Derby will be heavily impacted by Derby Resignalling from 22nd July to 7th October. During this time, we are aiming to run as many trains as we can. However, when this is not possible, we will always provide a dedicated replacement bus or coach. Matlock Matlock Bath Cromford Whatstandwell Ambergate Belper Derby Long Eaton Spondon Beeston Attenborough Nottingham Carlton Burton Joyce Lowdham Thurgarton Rolleston Fiskerton Bleasby Newark Castle Services between Nottingham, Derby and Matlock will be affected for the duration of the works. Please be aware that services between Nottingham, Derby and Matlock will be impacted in various stages throughout the entire blockade. This will also affect passengers travelling from Newark Castle towards Derby and Matlock, as train services will terminate at Nottingham. Please see below for details of how and when you will be affected by Derby Resignalling: 22nd July to 29th July There will be no CrossCountry trains between Nottingham and Derby (these would usually run to Birmingham or Cardiff after calling at Derby). CrossCountry will run a rail replacement service direct between Nottingham and Derby. East Midlands Trains services between Newark Castle, Nottingham, Derby and Matlock will run as normal, and these will call at intermediate stations. 4

5 30th July to 2nd September There will be no train services between Derby and Nottingham. Rail replacement services will be provided every 15 minutes throughout the day, details of which are on the timetable pages. The length of time these journeys will take will depend on the time of day you are travelling. Rail replacement services on weekdays during peak morning/evening hours will take longer than those at other times of the day. Passengers travelling between Nottingham and Beeston or Attenborough will be able to use other local East Midlands Trains services between Lincoln and Leicester which run throughout the day. Services will continue to operate between Derby and Matlock until 24th August, and Nottingham and Newark Castle, which will remain unaffected throughout the works. 25th August to 7th October Train services between Derby and Matlock will not run, with rail replacement services running instead. The rail replacement services will run more frequently than the usual train timetable, with approximately one bus/coach every half an hour on weekdays and Saturdays, and an hourly service on Sundays. From 3rd September Both East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry services between Derby and Nottingham will run as normal. Selected services to/from Newark Castle will extend through to Derby, whilst services between Derby and Matlock will continue to be served by rail replacement buses/coaches. From 8th October All train services will return to normal. Please see the timetable pages within this booklet for full details of the services that will run. 10 Travelling by rail replacement Wherever possible, we aim to make sure you can take the same belongings on a rail replacement service as you would on a train. Bicycles Bicycles are permitted, but you may be required to put the bicycle either in the underneath luggage hold or on a following vehicle. You may find it quicker and more convenient if you leave your bicycle at home or at the station during this time. Folding bikes may also be easier for us to store on the buses or coaches. A whopping 88 of our 90 stations offer free cycle storage and we have secure, state-of-the-art cycle hubs at Sheffield, Leicester, Nottingham and Loughborough. Pushchairs and prams Our coaches have plenty of underneath storage for pushchairs and prams, so please be aware that it is likely you ll be asked to place these in there for your journey. Food and drink Drinks should be in a covered cup or container to prevent spillages on our buses. Food is allowed, but we reserve the right to refuse travel to anyone with food which may leave a mess on the bus or impact other passengers. 10

11 Luggage You can bring three items of luggage onto our coaches. Two will go into the luggage hold and one must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. Animals Sight dogs are permitted on our vehicles, and other animals are welcome to board too, provided they are small and not affecting other customers journeys. Delay Repay We hate to be late as much as you do. Our Delay Repay scheme is an easy method of claiming compensation for delays of over 30 minutes against our advertised timetable for that particular day. Travel assistance Every day we help people book tickets, and we also provide a free service for our older and disabled passengers to get on and off trains and around our stations. We will still be offering travel assistance on our replacement buses and coaches throughout the Derby Resignalling works. In the example below, we have highlighted the key areas and what they mean. This shows the direction of travel for each particular timetable.
