5 NashvilleTour2016 Chorale and Treble choir students are Nashville bound! 80 students along with Mrs. Kiedrowski, director of OFHS choral music, and parent chaperones will be taking in the sites and sounds of Nashville, TN February 12th to 15th. They will tour the Opryland Hotel gardens, Ryman Auditorium, go back stage at the Grand Ole Opry, visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and the historic Music Row. The students will have the opportunity to do a recording at the Historic RCA Studio B - the same studio that Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and Carrie Underwood recorded. While in Nashville, the students will participate in a music clinic with professors at Fisk University and perform at the chapel at Fisk. They will also participate in a songwriters workshop at BB Kings. Safe travels and have fun!!! Interesting facts about the Historic Studio B Home of 1,000 Hits More than 35,000 songs were brought to life by the Studio B magic, including more than 1,000 American hits, 40 million selling singles, and over 200 Elvis Presley recordings. Nashville Sound Built in 1957, RCA Studio B became known as one of the cradles of the "Nashville Sound," a style characterized by background vocals and strings that helped establish Nashville as an international recording center. 8 Private Lessons Private Lessons are a great way to fast forward your child's progress. Lessons are taught one to one, dealing with just your child's skills. Here are some excellent area teachers: Private Voice Lessons: Julia Wallace: (Olmsted Performing Arts) Amy Hanratty: a.hanratty@sbcglobal.net (Olmsted Falls resident) Shane O'Neill: (Olmsted Performing Arts) Norma Codispoti: (Baldwin Wallace University) Lynne Hoffman Engel: (Baldwin Wallace University) Private Piano and Voice Lessons: Lawrence Wallace: (Olmsted Falls Middle School) Private Piano Lessons: Lori Scheutzow (Olmsted Falls resident) For more information, contact members of the Olmsted Falls Music Staff. Instrumental Lessons Private lessons will be offered this year on flute, clarinet, saxophone, cornet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion, voice, and maybe, depending on the amount of interest, French horn, oboe and bassoon. (Availability of lessons will depend on the number of responses for each instrument.) This is an excellent opportunity to help your child enjoy band and choir more by being able to participate at a higher level than before. All students can greatly benefit from lessons. The advanced player will gain a greater depth of understanding and solo performance while the less experienced player will get a chance to practice the fundamentals they need. Fee is $14.00 for each once a week private lesson. Contact Mr. Feller at or mfeller@ofcs.net for more information or to setup lessons for your child.
