4 Z OBJECTIVE EASTER FESTIVAL The SWISSCHAMBER MUSICCIRCLE association decided to found a classical music concert series to present cultural gems and highlights in the valley of Ursern. Young price winner ensembles (graduates of Swiss music conservatories & universities/colleges) will be offered the opportunity of being supported through the concept of this festival. To the high quality setting of the program, SCMC will add performances of professional award winning ensembles and musicians. As Andermatt plans to become a touristic attraction throughout the year, this location will be perfect for performances of the new festival. Andermatt will position itself as a major stage for high quality cultural events, reaching beyond the region with its current offers for mountain sports and nature enthusiasts. It will certainly serve the award given by the New York Times in their ranking on position 33 of the worldwide recommended tourist destinations. The professional Easter festival will debut in 2015 featuring award winning performances in the church of Saint Peter and Paul (April 2 to April 12, 2015, see page 6 program). We are convinced that the planned activities of the SWISSCHAMBER MUSICCIRCLE association will enrich and revive the region and benefit hotels and restaurants accordingly. The necessary know-how for planning and organizing events as described, will be provided by Prof. Joerg Conrad, lecturer of the HSLU (High School Lucerne), solo trumpeter of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra LSO as well as Mrs. Danièle Florence Perrin, manager for cultural affairs, arts and events & director. 4 Prof. Joerg Conrad & Danièle F. 5 CU Concert location St. Peter and Paul church Interior view church St. Peter and Paul, Andermatt Exterior view of church The Saint Peter and Paul church in Andermatt has been built 1602 by Bartholomäus Schmid of Hospental followed the extension of the chancel, the building of the intersection plus the enlargement of the nave and the two floor sacristy. The interior is done in a magnificent baroque style. The ostentatious high altar is the creation of the famous sculptor Johann Ritz from the Wallis valley. The latest restoration ( ) took care that the original space impression of the 18th century would be re-established. The four level nave is perfect for chamber music performances and also for larger chamber orchestras including choir. The standing out of over 400 years old structures of plaster in the walls and the ceiling of the church guarantee an excellent audio acoustic, which turn concert performances into a unique hearing experience, topped off by an elaborate lighting concept. 5 Prof. Joerg Conrad & Danièle F. According to the need and financial possibilities (sponsors), additional events will proceed to action. During the Lucerne Festival in March, August, September and November there will be no special concerts in Andermatt in order not to compete with the Lucerne Festival.
