3 Biography J. Brian Moorhead, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, has been Principal (Solo) Clarinet with the Florida Orchestra, Tampa Bay, since Besides his full-time, seasonal position with the Florida Orchestra, he also serves, full-time per academic year, on the applied music faculty of the University of South Florida - College of The Arts / School of Music, Tampa, where he is tenured as Associate Professor. He has taught applied music studies in clarinet, chamber music performance; developed, directed and produced USF - Honors College Arts and Humanities courses and productions, and had guided music education woodwind techniques courses at USF, Tampa, since His other university course teaching activities include USF Music Senior Seminar and U.S. Music History. Professor Moorhead holds a B.A. Degree from the University of South Florida, Tampa, where he studied with clarinetists, Dr. Vance Jennings, USF - Professor Emeritus, and Dr. Noel Stevens, USF - Associate Professor, who both were former Principal Clarinetists with the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony, Tampa Bay. Mr. Moorhead earned his M.M. Degree at the Northwestern University (NU) School of Music, Evanston, Illinois, where his primary teachers included Chicago Symphony Principal Clarinetists, Larry Combs (retired) and Clark Brody (retired). Other solo / chamber music performance and conducting mentors during his graduate music study at NU included music faculty, Robert Marcellus, Ray Still, John Paynter and Bernard Dobrosky. Mr. Moorhead has been featured as soloist with the Florida Orchestra (TFO) numerous times; performing works by Bernstein, Copland, Debussy, Martin, Mozart, Nielsen and Weber. He had previously performed concertos with other

4 area ensembles, presenting works by Debussy, Mozart, Rossini, Stravinsky and Weber. Most recently, November, 2011, he appeared as music faculty soloist with the USF Wind Ensemble, performing the area premiere of Michael Daugherty s Brooklyn Bridge for Clarinet and Symphonic Band, under the direction of USF Director of Bands, Dr. John Carmichael. Professor Moorhead s solo, chamber and orchestral activities during his active career have taken him to other states including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New York and Colorado. Internationally, he had performed by invitation in Taipei, Taiwan and Le Havre, France. In September, 2011 he represented the Florida Orchestra and the Tampa Bay region as chamber music performer (Florida Orchestra Principal Winds Quintet) in a unique, four-day cultural exchange with music education and performance-interest officials in Havana, Cuba. He was a returning guest artist with the Highlands / Cashiers Chamber Music Festival, North Carolina, where he collaborated with the Cavani, Alexander, Audubon, Lark String Quartets, as well as other nationally established performing artists. Each summer since July, 2006, he has performed solo, chamber, orchestral and opera repertoire as principal clarinet with the Crested Butte Music Festival, Colorado. He is a charter member, as Co- Principal Clarinet of the professional Florida Wind Band, Tampa Bay, since its 2007 inception, under the direction of founding Music Director, Dr. John Carmichael. Locally, Professor Moorhead has been an active recitalist in sponsored presentations of the USF Faculty Chamber Players, Tampa; WUSF-TV16 Issues in Music Recital (repeating) broadcast series, the Museum of Fine Arts Marly Room Recital Series, St. Petersburg, FL; the Tampa Bay Composers Forum; annual Encore Series chamber music performances at the St. Petersburg College - Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg; the Florida Orchestra Chamber Players, and the QUANTUM WINDS Quintet in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

5 In Florida, since 1985, he had assisted as rehearsal consultant, adjudicator, clinician and performer - working with public, private school instrumental music programs, area youth orchestras, and the Florida Bandmasters Association for Allstate high school musician selection procedures. He had also led past Florida Allstate Audition preparation workshop-clinics hosted at USF, Tampa. Calvin Falwell, Instructor of Clarinet & Bass Clarinet at the University of South Florida: School of Music, enjoys a varied career as an orchestral musician, soloist and educator. In 2010 Calvin was appointed as Bass Clarinetist of both the Miami City Ballet Orchestra and the Florida Grand Opera Orchestra. Additionally, he serves as Principal Clarinet with the Opera Naples Orchestra in Naples, FL. Summer appointments have included, The Ash Lawn Opera Festival, AMEROPA Chamber Music Festival in Prague, Principal Clarinet with the Opera in the Ozarks Festival and Bass Clarinet with the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra. Prior to his current appointments, Calvin served as Second Clarinet & Bass Clarinet with The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in Orlando, FL. Calvin has also appeared with the Louisville Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Sarasota Orchestra, Opera Tampa, Pittsburgh Opera Theater and Symphony in C (formerly Haddonfield Symphony). Additionally, Calvin has toured internationally with the Hollywood Concert Orchestra. Calvin has also served on the faculties of Holy Family University, Wilmington University, and Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. In addition to his orchestral positions, Calvin has enjoyed performing as a soloist in both recital and orchestral

6 settings. Hailed as "a performer of skill and virtuosity" (World Clarinet Alliance) and "a musician of great skill with a captivating sound" (ClariPeru), Calvin has had the privilege of premiering two bass clarinet concertos by Todd Goodman and Joseph Hallman. Solo appearances have included recitals in South America, China, Europe and the US. His principal teachers and mentors include Paul Demers (Philadelphia Orchestra), Ron Samuels (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra), Tim Zavadil (Minnesota Orchestra), Dallas Tidwell (Louisville Orchestra), Daniel Lochrie (Nashville Symphony) and Scott Locke (Murray State University). Both Calvin's BM and MM are in Clarinet Performance and are from the University of Louisville and Duquesne University respectively. Recently, Mr Falwell performed the "Light Fantastic" for Bass Clarinet and Wind Ensemble by Andrew Rindfleisch with the University of South Florida Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. John Carmichael. This past semester he performed Todd Goodmans Bass Clarinet Concerto with the University of South Florida Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. William Wiedrich. Calvin is both a Selmer Paris and Rico Performing Artist, performing on Selmer Clarinets and Rico Reeds exclusively. Calvin lives in Tampa, FL with his wife Kerry Falwell and their two cats Ronald & Callie. Linnea Barbery Norsworthy received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Florida and an MM in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music. She has taught piano at the University of South Florida, the University of New Hampshire, Muhlenberg College, and Mesa Community College in Phoenix. Throughout her career, she has been

7 active as a solo performer as well as a chamber musician. Her teachers include Lois Golding, Frank Glazer, Cecile Genhart, John Ogdon and Harvey Wedeen. She is an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California, CAPMT and the American Matthay Association for Piano. Currently, Ms Norsworthy maintains a private studio in Encinitas and performs frequently both as a collaborative pianist and soloist. Ms Norsworthy is Director of Music and pianist at St. Timothy s Episcopal Church and serves as church pianist for the Congregacion Presbiteriana Hispana in Solana Beach.
