6 4 Musicians and Visual Artist Heather Conner, Piano Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Steinway Artist Dr. Heather Conner is currently Professor of Piano at the University of Utah. As a recitalist, Conner has performed in many prestigious venues, such as Steinway Hall in New York City. She has also presented solo recitals in Philadelphia; Los Angeles; New Haven, Connecticut; Moscow; Salzburg; Seoul, South Korea; Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada; Greenville (South Carolina and North Carolina); Oklahoma City and Stillwater, Oklahoma; Tuscaloosa and Montgomery, Alabama; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Salt Lake City. Conner has won grand prizes at several international and national competitions including the First Hilton Head Island International Piano Competition and the Kingsville International Young Performers Competition, and has performed on numerous occasions as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2010, she performed a solo recital at the Zwischen den Jahren festival in Antweiler, Germany. In 2006, she appeared as recitalist and artist teacher at several venues in Seoul, South Korea. Conner has recorded commercially for the Naxos and Centaur labels and has been heard on NPR s Performance Today, WQED in Pittsburgh, WFLN in Philadelphia, and KCSC in Oklahoma City. Her performances can also be heard on the web at instantencore.com. International Chamber Music Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, and is currently an artist performer with America s Dream Chamber Artists both at Symphony Space in New York City and on tour nationally. She performs every year on the Intermezzo and Nova Chamber Music Series both based in Salt Lake City, and has performed as a guest artist on the Brightmusic Chamber Music Series in Oklahoma City. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Arkady Aronov and received the Helen Cohn Award for most promising doctoral graduate. Under the guidance of renowned pianist Peter Frankl, Conner received her Master of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1997, where she studied with the distinguished piano pedagogue Eleanor Sokoloff for five years. An avid chamber musician, Conner has appeared in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall and the Glenn Gould Studios in Toronto. She has performed as soloist and chamber musician at the Niagara

7 Caleb Harris enjoys an active career as a pianist, conductor, chamber musician, and vocal and opera coach. He is equally at home at the keyboard and on the podium. Harris has appeared throughout the United States, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, Slovenia, and Asia at many prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. As a vocal coach, musical director, chorus master, or conductor in Germany and the United States, Harris has been involved in the preparation and performance of many operas: recent productions include Puccini s Turandot, Verdi s La Traviata, Mozart s Abduction from the Seraglio, Britten s A Midsummer Night s Dream, Poulenc s Dialogues of the Carmelites, Stravinsky s Renard, Ravel s L Enfant et les sortilèges, Purcell s Dido and Aeneas, Mark Adamo s Little Women, Humperdinck s Hansel and Gretel, Massenet s Cendrillon, Busoni s Turandot, Donizetti s L elisir d amore, Rossini s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Handel s Serse, Puccini s Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicci, Weber s Der Freischütz, and Mozart s Die Zauberflöte. He has served as instrumental and ensemble conductor and/or rehearsal pianist for the Frankfurt (Germany) Symphony, Dubrovnik Symphony (Bad Homburg, Germany), Utah Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Eastman Chamber Music Society, Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, University of Northern Colorado University Symphony, University of Northern Colorado Opera Theatre, and Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. Formerly a member of the piano faculty at the University of Northern Colorado, Harris is currently the Utah Opera Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor as well as a Visiting Professor at the University of Utah. In the season, Harris prepared the renowned Utah Opera Chorus for the critically acclaimed Doucet/ Barbe production of Puccini s Turandot. Musical luminaries he has worked with in the area of opera include Robert Spano, Stephan Asbury, Neil Varon, William Weinert, Robert Page, Joel Smirnoff, Phyllis Curtin, Dawn Upshaw, Martin Katz, Kenneth Griffiths, Alan Smith, and Robert McIver. A graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and the Eastman School of Music, he has received many honors, including a Presser Foundation Scholarship. He has studied piano extensively with Billie Jo Forney, Ronald Lewis, and Douglas Humpherys. 5

8 6 E.K. Wimmer is an artist and curator currently serving as Curator of Art for the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming. He was born in New York, raised in New Mexico, and has lived throughout the West. He studied photography at Eastern New Mexico University and art history at the University of Montana. Wimmer received his Master of Arts degree from the School of Art and Art History at the University of Denver. He works in multiple disciplines including photography, video installation, painting, printmaking, and collage.
