1 2016 VCE Music Prescribed list of notated solo wks: Saxophone Ten This list may be used to select: a program of wks f VCE Music Perfmance Units 3 and 4 Outcome 1 and end-of-year perfmance examination where the student has selected to perfm as a soloist one wk that will be used as the starting point f a Focus Area in VCE Music Investigation where the student has selected to perfm as a soloist. This wk must be perfmed in the Music Investigation end-of-year perfmance examination update No wks have been added to this list f Many of the wks on this list are available f purchase in me than one edition. Unless indicated otherwise, the editions listed here are not prescribed editions, but a guide to what is available. Schools and teachers are advised to research editions befe advising students about sheet music purchases. Depending on the wk, particular editions may be preferred because of their closeness to the composer s iginal sce editial treatment of matters such as dynamics fingering. It is the responsibility of schools and teachers to ensure that the edition used by students is in fact an edition of the listed wk, not a simplified version an arrangement. Editions that must be used will be annotated with only edition to be used. In these cases, the prescribed wk is a specific transcription arrangement. Please note updated infmation about accompaniments (Music Perfmance). As required, the list includes infmation about how many movements of a wk are required to be played and/ how many wks from a collection may be played. Please note that any one means that only one movement wk from a collection may be played, whole wk to be played means exactly that and any one me means that at least one movement wk should be played but me than one may be played. In 2017 a revised VCE Music study design will be implemented. Infmation about the revised study will be available during 2016 and suppt materials including Advice f Teachers and Examination specifications, criteria and sample material will be published during 2016 and early The VCAA Bulletin will provide updates as material is published. The Saxophone Ten list is reviewed on a regular basis. Suggestions of wks f inclusion deletion should be sent to curriculum.vcaa@edumail.vic.gov.au with the subject line Attention Perfming Arts Manager, Saxophone Ten list. F suggestions of wks to be included on the list: provide a copy of the sheet music, publication details and, as appropriate, a description of the lines/parts to be perfmed indicate which categy the wk should be listed in briefly describe why the wk should be included on the list. 2 Study Design Requirements Music Investigation Compliance requirements F students who select to perfm the end-of-year perfmance examination as a soloist, the Focus Area selected f Unit 3 Outcome 1 must be based on, and the examination program must include, one wk selected from either the Prescribed list of notated solo wks f the instrument selected Section A of the Prescribed list of group wks. Other infmation This list must be used in conjunction with infmation provided in the: Introduction to the VCE Music Prescribed list of notated solo wks VCE Music Study Design, Music Investigation Units 3 and 4 selection of instrument and program Unit 3 Outcome 1 and Outcome 3 Unit 4 Outcome 3 end-of-year perfmance examination, description and conditions f students who have selected to perfm as a soloist Music Investigation examination criteria and sample examination material. Music Perfmance Compliance requirements F students who select to perfm as a soloist f Units 3 and 4 and select Saxophone Ten as their instrument, all solo wks perfmed f Units 3 and 4 Outcome 1 and all wks perfmed in the end-of-year perfmance examination must be selected from this list be approved as alternative wks. 3 two wks with live accompaniment. Accompaniment may be provided by piano another instrument appropriate to the wk. Different instruments may be used to accompany different wks in the program two wks which are examples of music composed since Each title listed constitutes one wk. Where a wk comprises several movements, me than one movement may be perfmed unless otherwise specified. These movements together will count as one wk. Repeats, cadenzas and tutti passages are optional.
