He has won numerous competitions, including the MTAC Solo Competition, Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Los Angeles Young Musicians International Competition, and Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Zipper Concert Hall and the Nixon Library. He also volunteers at his local senior center to play music for the seniors every month. Testimonial: I am very honored to be accepted into the Young Artist Guild, as I have been doing CM for a long time and this is basically the epitome of the CM program. Since my father has already retired, the YAG scholarships will help to ease any financial difficulty in my continuing study of piano. I know that with the Guild s help, I will become an even better musician and continue to share my music with those around me. Alex Chien is the winner of many piano competitions, including first prize in the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, the 9th International Russian Piano Competition, the Mondavi Young Artist Competitions and the Pacific Music Society Annual Competition. He has given multiple solo recitals and concerto performances across the US, South America and Europe. Alex has performed in many musical festivals, fund-raising concerts and master classes. Testimonial: The YAG s generous scholarships will make it possible for me to concern myself less with the financial burdens of college, and instead focus on pushing past my limits as an artist. In college, I hope to inspire myself, my friends, my teachers, and most importantly those who have yet to experience classical music. Program Prelude and Fugue in F Major, BWV 880, WTC II - J.S. Misha enjoys performing to raise funds for various volunteer organizations. Testimonial: Playing the piano is my greatest passion. The path in my immediate future must lead toward its mastery. To that end, all of the money I receive, either from competition winnings or scholarships will be set aside to fund my education at the music school to which I am accepted after I graduate from high school next year. Receipt of a Young Artist Guild scholarship would be of great benefit as well as a prestigious achievement. Program Prelude and Fugue in a minor, BWV 889, WTC II - J.S. Bach Sonata in C Major, Hob. Since I plan to pursue music in college, I will be traveling throughout the country for auditions. These scholarship funds will help immeasurably in covering these expenses.
