You will be asked to learn to count along with recordings and become familiar with common musical forms. Most of the text will be covered but the majority of the out of class work will be listening. All of the text is required along with other assigned readings. At the end of the course you should be able to have a SENSE of what Jazz music is. Not necessarily be able to define it but to know it when you here it and understand some of it. The assignments listed here for each class are due at the NEXT class meeting.
