31 AUTO SETUP (INTELLIBEAM) AUTO SETUP (IntelliBeam) This unit creates a sound field by reflecting sound beams on the walls of your listening room and broadening the cohesion of all the channels. Just as you would arrange the seaker osition of other audio systems, you need to set the beam angle to enjoy the best ossible sound from this unit. This unit emloys the beam otimization and sound otimization features with the aid of the sulied otimizer microhone, allowing you to avoid troublesome listening-based setu and achieving highly accurate sound adjustments that best match your listening environment. We call these 2 features IntelliBeam generically. The beam otimization creates the best ossible surround sound field without manually setting the arameters for your listening room. The sound otimization feature erforms the following checks and automatically makes aroriate sound adjustments. DISTANCE: Checks the distance of each beam from this unit and adjusts the delay of each channel so that each sound beam reaches the listening osition at the same time. EQUALIZING: Adjusts frequency and levels of each channel s arametric equalizer to reduce coloration across the channels and create a cohesive sound field. The sound otimization feature incororates three arameters (frequency, level and Q factor) for each of the seven bands in its arametric equalizer to rovide highly recise automatic adjustment of frequency characteristics. LEVEL: Checks and adjusts the sound outut level of each channel. The flow chart of AUTO SETUP This unit erforms a series of checks to otimize the beam angle, delay, volume and quality. You can choose to otimize all or art of the arameters. Checking the environment of your listening room *1 Otimizing the beam angle *2 *3 Checking the subwoofer Otimizing the beam delay, frequency and volume Beam otimization Sound otimization Notes * 1 The beam angle checking rocedure is skied if SOUND OPTIMZ only is selected. * 2 The sound otimization rocedure is skied if BEAM OPTIMZ only is selected. * 3 The subwoofer checking rocedure is skied if BEAM OPTIMZ only is selected. 32 OPTIMIZER MIC AUTO SETUP (IntelliBeam) Installing the otimizer microhone The sulied otimizer microhone collects and analyzes the sound that this unit roduces in your actual listening environment. Follow the rocedure below to connect the otimizer microhone to this unit and make sure that the otimizer microhone is laced in a roer location and that there are no large obstacles between the otimizer microhone and the walls in your listening room. Notes After you have comleted the AUTO SETUP rocedure, be sure to disconnect the otimizer microhone. The otimizer microhone is sensitive to heat. Kee it away from direct sunlight. Do not lace it on to of this unit. Do not connect the otimizer microhone to an extension cable as doing so may result in an inaccurate sound otimization. An error may occur during the AUTO SETUP rocedure if the otimizer microhone is not roerly laced in your listening room. To avoid the ossibility of an error: Do not lace the otimizer microhone to the extreme right or left from the center of this unit. Do not lace the otimizer microhone within 1.8 m (6.0 ft) from the front of this unit. Do not lace the otimizer microhone more than 1 m (3.3 ft) uer or lower from the center height of this unit. Make sure that there are no obstacles between the otimizer microhone and the walls in your listening room as these objects obstruct the ath of sound beams. However, any objects that are in contact with the walls will be regarded as a rotruding art of the walls. The best ossible results are achieved if the otimizer microhone is laced at the same height as your ears would be when you are seated in your listening osition. However, if this is not ossible, you can manually fine-tune the sound beam angle and balance the sound beam outut levels using MANUAL SETUP (see age 57) once the AUTO SETUP rocedure is comleted. If a subwoofer with adjustable volume and crossover/high cut frequency controls is connected to this unit, set the volume between 10 and 12 o clock as viewed on a conventional clockface and set the crossover/high cut frequency to the maximum. VOLUME CROSSOVER HIGH CUT MIN MAX MIN MAX Subwoofer 1 Press STANDBY/ON on the front anel or on the remote control to turn off the ower of this unit. Note Be sure to lace the otimizer microhone on an imaginary center line drawn from this unit. y You may want to use the sulied cardboard microhone stand to affix the otimizer microhone at the same height as your ears would be when you are seated in your listening osition.
