When you receive your shipment from Honeywell HomMed, carefully remove each piece of equipment from the box. Save the carton and packing materials in case you need to return any of the contents. As you inventory the contents of the box, check each piece of equipment for damage. If anything is damaged or missing, contact Customer Service immediately. Your package may include the following: Genesis Touch monitor Tablet AC power supply cable USB cable Scale (optional) Scale AC power supply cable (optional) Blood pressure unit (optional) Oximeter (SpO2) finger sensor (optional) Oximeter AC power supply cable (optional) Power strip Tablet stand Note: Kits may include slightly different pieces depending on the model and/or patient need. In addition to the battery used to power the device, the Genesis Touch monitors have a battery that maintains the memory, clock and configuration for approximately five years. Do not attempt to replace the battery. If the battery fails, contact Customer Service to have it replaced. Communications The Genesis Touch System provides two options for communicating with LifeStream: Cellular Network (3G and 4G) Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) Cellular Network The Genesis Touch comes with a cellular network already enabled and ready to be used. The cellular network works in the same way as it does for a cellular phone utilizing 3G and 4G network speeds. Wireless Internet (Wi Fi) The Genesis Touch allows you the option to connect to a Wi-Fi network for communications. A Wi-Fi network is a wireless internet access point in a home, business, or public area that allows the transmission of data over the internet. The Genesis Touch is designed to connect to any available Wi-Fi network within range and can use this access point to transmit vital sign data to LifeStream without using a cellular network. The patient s Wi-Fi password is required to connect to a wireless network in their home. It is the patient s responsibility to provide their network s password to enable access. If their network is not password protected, no password is needed to connect. 4/16/ Honeywell HomMed. All rights reserved. P4820EN

53 Troubleshooting Common Questions Question I press and hold down the power button and the monitor doesn t turn off or it turns off and then back on again. Why won t it turn off or stay off? I inadvertently pressed the Power button and the monitor went to sleep. How can I get the screens to reappear? The sound is too loud or too quiet when the patient is taking vital signs. How can I adjust this? My scale keeps coming up with the wrong units even after I set them on the monitor. How can I fix that? The Education and/or Video button do not appear on the Vital Signs/Home screen. Why is that? Where do I find questions that have education associated with them? If the monitor is set up to transmit via Wi- Fi, why does it transmit vitals data over the cellular data plan (GPRS)? How do I exit the menu screen of my Contec sp02 peripheral? My Contec sp02 peripheral will not turn off, what do I do? How do I pair my peripheral with my Genesis Touch device? Suggestion The Genesis Touch is designed so that the patient can t inadvertently turn the monitor off. To accomplish this, the ability to turn the monitor off was prohibited unless a password has been entered. To turn the monitor off, you must be in a password protected area, such as the General or Advanced settings area, then press and hold down the power button. In rare cases, the power button may be inadvertently pressed for longer than 15 seconds, causing the unit to turn off when on battery power. Simply press the Power button again to turn the unit back on. Press and release the Power button.the Vitals Now/Home screen appears. There is a Volume button next to the Power button on the monitor. Use this button to adjust volume while taking vital signs. For the A&D scale, units are displayed according to the switch setting on the bottom of the scale. Verify that the switch is set to the units required before deploying to a patient. If the care provider has not chosen questions with educational information for the patient, the Education button will not appear on the screen.the same is true for video. If the care provider has not set up video for the patient, The Video button will not appear on the screen. Questions that provide education are numbers You can enable the All Education feature so that questions containing education are presented and viewed by the user under the education section in the Vitals Now/Home Screen. If the monitor is set up to transmit over Wi-Fi but either loses or cannot establish a connection with Wi-Fi, the monitor will transmit vitals over the GPRS radio. Please press the button to move the menu selector to the Exit selection. When Exit is selected, hold down the single button for approximately 1-2 seconds until the Contec device returns to the reading screen and turns off if no finger is placed in the device. 54 Common Questions The quality of my video conference is not as clear as I would like. Why is that? Communication performance depends on several factors, including, but not limited to, local communication providers systems, infrastructure and/or the volume of traffic (number of users) on the communication network. For wireless communication, factors, such as proximity to a communication tower, obstructions, such as buildings, local weather conditions, trees, or a dead zone, where little or no coverage is possible, can cause diminished performance. Often the performance (bandwidth) of the communication system is diminished when wireless signal strength falls below certain levels. This can occur in both urban and rural areas. The Fuzebox video application employs adaptive bandwidth management in situations where the performance of the communication system is unpredictable and/or below minimum required levels for optimal video conferencing. During a video meeting, priority is set in this order: 1. VoIP traffic (participant s audio). 2. Screen share/document share (presentation materials). 3. Video conferencing (video of participants). When the application detects increased delays (latencies) from a participant s network, it gives priority only to what a user is watching. If the video application detects a slow communication connection from a video participant, the application may degrade the video stream's resolution as well as quality (frames per second) to cope with the reduced bandwidth to deliver consistent video images. Fuzebox s recommended minimum bandwidth requirement for Fuze Meeting video conferencing is: Each participant should have 2 Mbps upload and 2 Mbps download of available internet bandwidth to participate in a video conference. There should be a latency (delay) of no more than 50 Milliseconds. For more information, go to support and select Fuze diagnostic to assess the bandwidth and latency of your system. 4/16/14 P4820EN Honeywell HomMed. All rights reserved. 4-3

67 Appendix B Taking Vital Signs This appendix provides additional detail, beyond what is provided in the Patient Telemonitoring Instructions, for taking vital signs. The Genesis Touch provides two options for taking vital signs. Vitals can be scheduled so that you are prompted at the appropriate time to take your vital signs, or you can initiate collection of your vital signs manually. Your care provider has most likely scheduled your monitor to acquire your vitals at specific times on specific days. Before you take the first set of vital signs, ensure that you know how to use each piece of equipment. If you have any questions about how to take your vital signs, contact your care provider. If you want to take your vital signs manually, go to Taking Vital Signs Manually. Understanding Questions and Reminders Your care provider may schedule important healthcare questions and/or reminders to gather more information on your health status. When questions have been configured as part of your vitals acquisition, a screen similar to the following appears with questions that were configured specifically for you: Select either Yes or No in response to the question. If more questions are configured, the next question appears. When the questions are completed, the monitor continues to the next vitals acquisition. Refer to the section related to the appropriate vitals acquisition for more information: For: Go to: Blood oxygen Taking Blood Oxygen. Blood pressure Preparing to Take Blood Pressure. Weight Collecting Weight. Temperature Recording Your Temperature.

70 Appendix B Preparing to Take Blood Pressure The blood pressure cuff can be used on either arm. Follow your health care provider s instructions for which arm you use. We recommend that you use the same arm consistently. Rest your arm so it is at or below heart level to obtain the most accurate reading. If you are using an oximeter, place the cuff on the arm opposite the oximeter. The position of your arm can significantly affect the readings. A consistent position should be used for each reading to increase the accuracy of the data. While taking blood pressure, the cuff inflation pressure appears in the systolic (top) area. When the reading is complete, both the systolic (top) and diastolic (bottom) results appear. Your position, movement, talking, physiological conditions and other factors can have an impact on blood pressure measurement. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the blood pressure hoses are not kinked, compressed or restricted. CAUTION: Personal Injury Hazard Prolonged inflation can result in impairment of circulation. Stop inflation at any time by pressing the Start key. To restart inflation, press the Start key. Refer to manufacturer s documentation for more information on peripheral devices. Placing the Blood Pressure Cuff To properly place the blood pressure cuff: 1. Hold the cuff so that once on your arm, the cord points toward your hand. 2. With the palm of your hand up, slip your hand through the cuff. 3. Position the cuff tube off-center, toward the inner side of the arm so that it is in line with your little finger. 4. Slide the cuff up your arm over your elbow. There should be about a two-finger space between the bend in your elbow and the cuff. 5. Do not make the cuff too tight. You should be able to slide a finger between the cuff and your arm. 6. Wrap the cuff end under and around your arm and fasten it to the velcro. B Honeywell HomMed. All rights reserved.
