2 I. Fit Approval Process The fit approval process is in place to confirm Design aesthetic, the fit intent, and the garment construction of the final product. Fit sample requests are initiated by an agent/vendor and a base size fit sample must be submitted to Talbots Technical Design Team for an evaluation. Agent/vendor will repeat the fit sample submission until the fit sample is approved by Talbots Technical Design Team. a. Requirements for A Fit Sample Submission Agent/vendor sample checklist Sample measurements specifications in sample evaluation worksheet A net paper pattern with proper information (0% shrinkage) All fit samples must be made in the lightest color on order when available If the fit sample is NOT approved, fit comments and recommendations for pattern adjustments must be sent to the Agency/Vendor for use in the submittal for the next fit sample. Talbots is not responsible for developing bulk patterns. b. Fit Sample Submission Timeline A fit sample should be submitted within 10 days of fit comments received. If a sample is internally rejected, the Agency/Vendor must notify Talbots Sourcing and Technical Design Team and must resubmit a sample within five (5) days. It is the responsibility of the Agency/Vendor to maintain the production schedule, allowing time for original number of fit rounds. c. 5 II. Pre-Production Sample Process The pre-production sample is a measure of the agreed standard of quality between Talbots and Agency/Vendor. Production should not commence without Talbots team s approval. Agency/Vendor must undergo risk analysis and review for bulk and inform Talbots of any potential issues in bulk execution, accompanied by a solution. It is Agency/Vendor s responsibility to maintain the production delivery by managing the timeline and execution for a PPS sample to Talbots. a. Pre-requisites BULK Fabric/Yarn and Trims Fit approval comments have been followed Correct fit approval pattern used Measurements meet specification Meets requested construction and Talbots quality standard Overall quality of workmanship meets Talbots standard Appearance on mannequin is satisfactory b. Requirements for Pre-Production Sample Submission One (1) pre-production sample of base size Agent/vendor sample checklist Sample measurements specifications in sample evaluation worksheet A paper pattern with proper information (Net Pattern 0% shrinkage) III. Size Set Sample Process Size set samples must be submitted for any styles that are requested by Talbots Technical Design Team along with Pre-Production Sample. Production should not commence without Talbots team s approval. IV. TOP Sample Agency/Vendor is required to pull the base size from the bulk production three (3) weeks prior to X-factory date unless specified. Bulk production cannot be shipped without Talbots team s approval. TOP samples are true bulk production goods that must be accurately labeled and sent to Talbots as the bulk production is packed and shipped. 5

Mannequin (Alvaform) Requirements Talbots has partnered with Alvanon Inc. to develop custom fit mannequins for Missy, Petite, and Women s Talbots Missy 8 Talbots Petite 8 Talbots Women s 18W (TAS-WMS ) (TAS-WPT ) (TAS-WPL ) Presently, fit models for Missy Size 8/Medium are being revised. Please continue to use the current mannequins until all revisions have been finalized and released. Each authorized vendor is required to purchase each form for its sample room. All mannequins for Talbots use must be purchased through Alvanon; no other manufacturers are authorized to produce these forms. If specific factories producing Talbots product are not in close proximity to the sample room, you will be required to purchase an additional Missy fit form for those factories. Alvanon can reproduce fit mannequins with the exact measurements and shape of our specifications so every supplier will be working with the identical form, thus ensuring standardized fit across our supply chain and within our brand.
