Work nder this contract was performed from JIJJ Assistants, J. M. Dodd, Jr. and A. Katz nder the general direction of R. R. Everett. 19% throgh Jne 1951 by Spervisor, and Research Known as DIC, the grop stdied the possible application of digital techniqes to the naval fire-control problem. With the se of the Whirlwind I cmpter, enogh programming was done to demonstrate that digital compter techniqes cold per- form the flmctions performed by analog fire-control eqipnent, sch as the Mark 47 system. Work performance of the contract may be fond in the Project Bi-Weekly and Qarterly Progress Reports. The complete report of work performed, and the conclsions and recommendations may be fond in R-231. On 20 Jne 1951, Dr. J. W. proposed an extension of this contract. Research, and the work period was extended to Jne Forrester, Director of MTT's Servmechanisms Laboratory The proposal vas accepted by t'ne Office of Naval nder the direction of Professor, the project ms primarily concerned with the programming problems related to the Compter's ability to make decisions, and se of the digital compter in simlation of other eqipment Collection microfilmed Jne 1985 October 1963
