4 LCF by Olimpia80 a Technical Revolution This is mainly achieved by Maximizing flexibility Reduction of set up time Reduction of roller cost (tooling cost reduction) Advanced Linear Cage Forming (LCF) by Olimpia80 is the most suited technology and extends LCF all llthe way to the welding station for round and through the entire line for rectangular/square products This technology results from many years of experience and development work

6 LCF Round pipes New LCF has been applied to complete forming section of mill, including fin pass Unique compact system consisting of 11 stations 6 stations operating as breakdowns 2 stations operating as pre fin passes 3 stations operating as final fin passes An almost complete closure of the tube (360 degrees) is achieved

8 Configuration Rolls of 11 forming stations controlled by 83 independent axles Axles are driven by servo motors with feedback Operated via system interface Correct roller position is found quickly and safely Some rolls not driven and contact with strip is reduced to keep peripheral speed differences to a minimum Surface marks avoided!

9 First breakdown stand Four forming idle rolls start shaping the strip edges Rolls have full movement capability Each roller can rotate t and translate in horizontal and vertical direction Elliptical profile of rollers to find optimum radius position Together with rake and positioning a perfectly controlled forming of edges is provided

10 Following 5 breakdown stands Work on central section of strip Gradual bending performed Rolls still have variable profile Same adjustments as stand 1 possible

11 Additional guiding rolls Stand 1 to 6 have additional guiding side rolls at the exit; movable on slides with different inclination; i control edge position and spring back At the entry of each stand pinch roll system for strip feeding and control of strip bottom line. Radius of each pinch roll change from stand to stand Side idlers at exit Pinch rollers at entry

12 Pre Finpass (stands 7 + 8) Work the strip on outside surface Rolls have full range of positions Fin roll has vertical movement between the two edges of strip to prevent tube rotation

13 Fin pass (stands 9 11) Complete the closing of tube before welding 9 rollers have radial movement to apply compression action to outer surface Upper rollers have blades to control pressure of strip edges

14 LCF square and rectangular tubes LCF can be applied all the way through production line 13 stations divided into 5 forming stations as breakdowns 3 forming stations as fin passes 1 welding station 3 sizing stations 1 straightening station between sizing stations

17 Station 1 5 breakdowns First 3 breakdown stations form edges Lower rolls fixed to vertical stands with horizontal movement Upper rollers move in vertical and horizontal direction Wide range of coupling solutions between upper and lower rollers. Bending position and radii controlled

18 Stands 4+5 (breakdowns) Form upper edge of tube Rolling movements are same as stands 1 to 3

19 Fin pass stations 6 8 Rolls work on external wall of profile leading to tube closure Lateral and upper rolls have movement positions to adopt to different shapes Tube size at exit slightly larger than finished product

20 Welding station stand 9 Movement of welding station is similar il to fin pass stands 2 upper rollers to independently control position of tube edges to weld Longitudinal movement to vary the location of the actual weld point

21 Sizing station stand 10, Each roll has movement parallel to its own axle This way it can touch the side of an adjacent roller (similar to a camera lens) Within the mill size range all faces of the tubes are completely worked by the rolls

22 Turk s head stand 12 Equipped with 7 independent axles This double action possibility best controls the forcing onto the tube Software allows positioning of rolls to reduce complexity of axles
