JARRYD JAMES - DO YOU REMEMBER Codes & Conventions 1. Jump Cut Editing - One code and convention I will use is jump cut editing. This is to create a feeling on a fast dizzy like feeing, it will be cutting between to shots extremely quickly, very similar to when a CD is jumping/skipping. This will appeal to my target audience as it references the action and sports films that they enjoy. This will also not allow time for the viewer to focus in on one specific object and it will also create the effect of vertigo 2. Mis En Scene - Another code and convention we will be using is Mis En Scene, makeup and hair will play a rather large role in how the viewer will respond to the music video, we plan on having the female actor wearing black lipstick and having teased messy hair, the male will ideally have black hair and will have dark eye liner, when flashing back to happy memories this will change back to the female having a natural vibrant look to her with brighter colours and also the male. 3. Narrative Storyline - It will also be a narrative storyline to it, it will be following a set-out plan of how the storyline is meant to run. It will be following two people (one man, one girl) after their relationship ending and them breaking up, it will start in a dark damp forest and then have set flashbacks to happy memories that they shared together, following the theme of the song Do You Remember, as in the song it is based around remembering past times, the good and the bad but in our music video we will just be focusing on the good parts as the main focus will be on the current bad time that they are going through, their breakup. 4. Lighting - in the music video we will be using shadow and dim lighting in the parts that will be set in the forest, to create the effect of a dark ambiance. Then when we have flash backs to places like the beach it will be very bright/light lighting, with a very strong natural light. The lighting in the forest will be darker allowing for the effective use of shadows and natural lighting, By using things like shadows and dim lighting we are able to create a more believable and user capturing environment for our music video, viewers of the video are going to hopefully be able to feel that darkness that we are trying to capture from the surroundings in the music video. 5. Camera Angles - in the music video we will be using a variety of shots, mainly focusing on the use of close ups and wide shots. By using wide shots in the music video in scenes like the forest we are able to capture a lot more detail of what is happening in the surroundings of the forrest and to focus in on the people in that scene but also to allow the viewer to see the surroundings without creating to much background distraction. Close ups will also be used to show facial expression on the actors face, the facial expression will help with building and creating a more in-depth relationship with the viewer, at the same time as making a more believable music video.

Copyright and permission for the music videos Since Orewa College had subscribed to we are permitted to use a copyrighted song for the purpose of making a music video for educational purposes as long as we do not profit from it. If it was in the real world, we would have to deal things differently and would have to change the place to film. We would have to go up to the manager of the restaurant if it was branded one and ask if we could film and if she/he could sign a permission letter saying that we were allowed to use the branded place. For example: if we were wanting to use the outside of MacDonald's then we would have to ask the owner or manager if we could film in that place. They would take a while to consider it so there fore we would have to film another scene or think of somewhere else to film. If a vehicle came passed and it was in the shot while we were filming, we would have to blur out the number plate. If the signs were in the way of our shot we would have to either blur it out or ask the owner of the shop if it was okay to use to sign.

Music Video Concept by Jayden Jacobi

The Concept and Song Choice The concept for my music video is Running into a forest with lots of slow cutting techniques to be used, combined with slow motion to give it a airy feeling to it combined with sparks of dark colours between two people. The song I have chosen to use is Do you remember by Jarryd James. This song has a slow and emotional depth to it so I think that it would be perfect to use in combination with the concept that I have mentioned about as it would fit perfectly are the notion of the song.

The Concept and Song Choice continued This will appeal to my target audience (Teenagers) because the song is based around something that most to all teenagers go through, breakups and dramatic relationships and relationships in general. The genre of this song is Alternative/Indie. And also the music video would be appealing to teenagers as it would be combining the songs background with the music videos features, eg. the characters actors connections.

Codes and Conventions The code that would be used in the music video would be a Narrative, as the artist would feature in the music video but not as often as the other people staring in the music video. The artist would only be used in a setting such as a black backdrop with them singing the lyrics used to be inserted in jump cuts between the music videos storyline and the artist to keep the lyrics in sync. Some of the conventions that would be used would include various camera angles eg. Extreme close up and wide angle shots.

Tone The tone that would be used in the music video would be that of a sad/depressing airy tone. This would be backed up by the actual tone of the song as we would be following the tone set by the song and that being a very slow sad and depressing tone. By keeping this tone it allows us to place a bigger emphasis on the background of the song and allows us to incorporate it a lot easier into the setting and motion of the music video that we would be creating. By being able to incorporate it a lot easier it will make the music video seem a lot more realistic and allow a more in touch connection to the viewer.

Settings and Costume The setting that would be being used would be taking place in a damp old forest. In the forrest it would be surrounded by old possibly decaying fallen trees that could be used to run over and jump over. The actors would run through the forest and pass over many different challenges as they are running through the forrest, emotional ones. e.g. flash backs to sad and happy memories that they had with the loved one that they are having a hard time with. The costume that would be used would be a natural all dark and natural coloured clothing, the male would be wearing a t-shirt with cuts in it/partially shredded and the girl a white shirt with also a few cuts in it, the male would wear long dark jeans and the girl would wear a white skirt. The girl would have scruffy/teased hair and the male would have a scruffy bed hair look to it.

Settings and Costume Continued For the makeup of the girl a dark lipstick would be worn, deep violet or black along with teased back hair and black eye liner. The male would have a generous coating of mascara to give him a slight gothic look, during flash backs both the girl and the guys makeup would change dramatically to the guy with no makeup and the girl having very vibrantly coloured lip sticks and a nicely bronzed face combined with neat straightened hair and the male having well groomed hair.

Task 1: Design, concept and treatment. BRAINSTORM 21 guns green day Happy Farrell williams Taylor swift love story The concept for my music video is. I plan to use prestige to make my music video to show different scenes of things that stereo typically make people happy (relating to the lyrics) for example dancing with friends, fairs, beach, animals, food Ect. I also would have in each scene the 'character' lip singing the lyrics. My Song is choice is- happy by Pharrell williams This will appeal to my Target audience because of the enthusiasm and could be seen as motivational. The genre of this song is pop Target Audience My target consumers/audience are teens This music video will appeal to them because my music video will appeal to teens, because of the genre of song, most teenagers listen to pop music. Also I aim to make the video loud with enthusiasm, witch could be seen as motivational. Tone The tone of my music video is happy cheerful bring colors dancing Etc This tone will be created by it will be created by the 4 set ups and the way they are out together. Setting The setting for my music video will look like: use the beach for some cut scenes. Also a fair like environment such as a theme park. Possibly a farm with animals, or pet shop. A food stall. This setting appeals to my audience and/or fits with the product because the setting relates the the song because it is stereo typical setting that make people happy.

Actor s costumes The actors costumes, props, hair, and makeup will be normal everyday wear such as jeans and a nice top with sneakers and hair in a pony tail. Also casual make up 'normal everyday wear' Structure The structure of my music video will be because.. I have chosen this (this is where you talk about the different set ups you would cut between and why. Checklist Brainstorm Description of idea & song you are using Target audience Tone Setting

- KIARA Task 1: Design, concept and treatment. - KIARA BRAINSTORM The concept for my music video is placed at a playground when a girl gets bullied but pushes past them and stands up for herself. She then gathers different groups of people that has also been pushed around and when it comes to the end it quickly flashes to one scene to another. Bright lights are used, bright costumes, the setting will be a playground, beach, in a bedroom, kitchen, classroom, back field playground. My Song is choice is roar by Katy Perry This will appeal to my Target audience because The genre of this song is pop music. The codes and conventions of this music genre are bright colours for lighting, mood and colours. The costumes are also bright with animal pronto the top and leafs as the skirt that she wears. Setting is where she is walking away from the plane when it landed. Her boyfriend that is with her walks around taking selfies and then being attacked by a tiger leaving her all alone. Target Audience My target consumers/audience are my age group which is years old. This music video will appeal to them because it shows that people should stand up for themselves if they are getting bullied or pushed around. Tone The tone of my music video is This tone will be created by Setting The setting for my music video will look like: This setting appeals to my audience and/or fits with the product because Actor s costumes The actors costumes, props, hair, and makeup
