5 BUFVC what we do Access core services allow HEIs to access moving image and sound through a range of databases, online & offline services. Expertise sharing information and advice through specialist knowledge practice, sources, copyright; courses, events, etc. Advocacy encouraging high quality use of and access to moving image and sound in education. HE/FE, industry, national bodies, legislators, HEFCE/Jisc, etc. Research partnering with academia and industry to create high quality research outputs that can be re-used

8 BUFVC Off Air Recording Back Up Service Working with rights-holders and the Education Recording Agency for 20+ years Enabling access under licence and exception on behalf of educational establishments Making it easy to find broadcast information and programmes Have recorded and kept 10 channels for 15 years (moderated service for access to DVD copies)

10 What is BoB National? Record programmes from over 50 television and radio channels from freeview Book recordings 7 days in advance 7 days catch-up Create playlists and clips Share programmes, clips and playlists with your colleagues

11 What is BoB National? Over 50 subscribing institutions since launch in 2007 Over programmes user created clips user created playlists user accounts

12 Enhancing teaching It has more than enhanced this service as it offers the teachers the flexibility and ownership over what clips and programmes they want to include in their teaching sessions. They no longer have to cross campus to try their luck in the LRC to see if their favourite DVD is in stock and using Bob to put clips into their presentations has become a natural part of their teaching preparation.
