7 LIZ JELINEK Artistic Director Liz Jelinek is a familiar name to Ann Arbor Civic Theatre audiences. She has been active in many areas of theatre including makeup, costuming, production, set construction and design, and teaching acting and directing workshops. She has directed productions for Ann Arbor Civic Theatre too numerous to list including, Promises, Promises, As You Like It, Medea, and the award winning Hogan's Goat. Her most recent stage appearance for Civic was in Oklahoma. Li z has directed for other theatre groups in the area including Saline Area Players and Ann Arbor Junior Theatre. In real life, Liz is a most successful real estate salesperson with The Cald we ll and Reinhart Company. DILL MURRELL Musical Director Dill brings to the show an extensive and varied musi cal and theatrical background. He has organized, led, written for, and participated in jazz combos, big bands, orchestras, entertainment park bands, church choirs, barbershop quartets, and workshop vocal groups for recreation and performance. Theatrically, in the past four years he has played in nine pit orchestras for AACT, Saline Area Players, U of M, Chelsea Players and others; built orchestras for AACT's Promises, Promises and U of M's Purlie; and was musical director and conductor for Oklahoma! (AACT), Camelot (MM Productions/Musket), Fiddler On The Roof and Music Man (Saline). Dill has appeared on stage in 13 shows, with Sal ine Area Players, AACT, and Musket, and has worked offstage jobs ranging from producing and directing to set painting, sound effects, and programs.

8 TOM COOCH {Charlie Brown) is a re<:ent high school graduate, but a four-year stage veteran, having appeared in South Poe/fie, Arsenic And Old Lace, Our Town, Music Man, Man Of La Mancha (as. the Padre), Inherit The Wind (as Brady) at Ypsilanti High School. Tom also performed in the EMU Holy Trinity Chapel Celebrants' Fiddler on the Roof. Tom plans to attend EMU this fall. MICHAEL MORRISSEY (Linus) South Lyon High School, taking The Wizard Of Oz, You Can't J Upon A Mattress. Now a soph Michigan, Mike performed in U c With AACT, he recently playe waiter, in You Never Con Tell. CATHY HILBISH McNE ELA (Lucy), an active voice and 1 piano teacher, has performed as a recitalist at U of M and three other universities. Cathy's theatrical appearances include The Bat, Block Comedy, and ThreePenny Opera at College of Wooster, The Fontastlcks with Cocktail Playhou~, The Boyfriend with Michigan Repertory, and - with AACT - Com{XIny (as April) and Fiorello (as Thea). Since moving to Meadville, Pa. last fall, Cathy played Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz and Maggie in Cot On A Hot Tin Roof with Meadville Community Theatre. RICHARD LEWIS (Set Good Man, Charlie 8' tonce Of Being Eornei ver. Richard received MSU, and has written Kalamazoo, and is wj Lady On The Rocks, manned the lightboa Toreadors and was a s~!hlng in the chorus for Mikado.

JAM ES FREEMAN (Snoopy) has been Stefl in a variety of thutre settings, including The Apple Tree in dinner theatre, MM Productions' Pettr Pan, straight plays at University of Michigan, and Musket's Godspefl, lfello, Dolly! ;md Caboret. Jim created the role of Jeff in AACT's original show, The Zookeeper, last fall. He is a third-year theatre major at U of M, and i5 (you'd never have guessed) anaccompli!hedgymnast.

10 ABOUT THE STAFF DAVID MARSHALL (Choreographer) recently portrayed the title role in William Butler Yeats' The Cuchulain Saga, featured at the University of Michigan. As a professional dancer, he has performed in concert in New York, Washington and Detroit. David has appeared as a dancer with AACT in Annie, Get Your Gun; Brass And Grass Forever; Anything Goes; and Carousel. His dramatic credits include Antigone, Anastasia and Waltz Of The Toreadors. A talented make-up artist as well, he designed make-up for AACT's award-winning Sleuth this past spring. David teaches dance with the Hydra Dance Theatre School and Company, and at Art World. LOIS LINTNER (Producer) is currently Social Chairperson on the Board of Directors. She has worked props, make-up, and costume construction for numerous productions in addition to coordinating crew and cast parties for the last two years. On stage, Lois was seen in AACT's Diary Of Anne Frank, Riders To The Sea, Forty Carats, The Women, Most Happy Fella, Annie, Get Your Gun, and last fall's original, The Zookeeper. She also appeared in a Musket original, j ericho, and Michigan Rep's The Boyfriend. This is Lois' sixth summer as coordinator of stage activities for the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair. Professionally, Lois is a sales representative for Inglenook Wines and for Noling Real Estate. CHRIS SCHWARTZ (Assistant Director) has been with AACT since 1970, when she managed props for Cactus Flower. She has since served as sound technician for Misalliance and Sleuth, and assistant director for Fiddler On The Roof, Hogan's Goat, and You Never Can Tell. She has also produced and directed in summer season and workshop productions, and is currently chairperson of the Play Reading Committee. Chris is a business person at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. ROGER WERTENBERGER (Scenic Designer) is one of AACT's most active designers and directors. He designed sets for Hogan's Goat and Ernest In Love, and designed and directed Arsenic And Old Lace and Sleuth, both award-winners. In the murder mystery genre, Roger has also directed Ten Little Indians and Angel Street for AACT. In the area of musical comedy, he has in recent years directed I Do, I Do (cast of two) for Cocktail Playhouse, Fiddler On The Roof (cast of ninety) and South Pacific for Saline Area Players, and Little Mary Sunshine for AACT; he has also directed for Comic Opera Guild, U of M Players, Ann Arbor Children's Theatre, and television shows. MARK BOWLES (Lighting Designer) is currently President of AACT and a third-year member of the Board of Directors. His first lighting assignment with AACT was for Ernest In Love in 1976, wherein he so enjoyed taking orders from stage manager Mindy Oddy that they were wed forthwith. Mark has also designed lighting for AACT's Promises, Promises and Summer And Smoke, and for U of M 's Madam Butterfly and The Magic Flute. His job as a computer systems analyst with Summagraphics Corp. takes him to New York (and the theatre district, of course) twice a month.

11 MORE ABOUT THE STAFF SUSAN ALFORD (Costumiere) eased into theatre by strolling casually into Saline Area Players' Fiddler On The Roof and costuming its cast of ninety. For dessert, she costumed S.A.P.'s Mousetrap six weeks later. Relatively inactive this year, she only costumed AACT's Carousel, earning the "best costume design" award for the season. Susan has a seven year old daughter, and enjoys New England and antique collecting. NANCY BEGHEIN (Makeup) has been transforming faces since she did makeup for The King And I and Mame in high school in Detroit. While a drama student at Henry Ford College and EMU, she designed makeup for Arsenic And Old Lace and Night Must Fall. Nancy is presently studying biology (with makeup courses on the side) at EMU. STEVEN FLYNN (Properties) is best known locally as an actor and dancer, having appeared in Hello, Dolly! with Chelsea Players; Pajama Game, Fiddler On The Roof, Company, and Our Town with Saline Area Players; and with AACT, Little Mary Sunshine (as the fearsome Yellow Feather), Brigadoon (as Angus MacGuffie), Carousel (as a dancer), and Finishing Touches, as Steve. He is a former U of M student in electrical engineering, and as manager of The Movies at Briarwood is believed to be the youngest theater manager in Michigan. MINDY BOWLES (Stage Manager) has extensive experience in this specialty, having stage managed Brigadoon, The Night Thoreau Spent In jail, and others for AACT, and twelve operas - most recently The Magic Flute - for the U of M School of Music. She has also served as producer for AACT's Oklahoma! and Annie, Get Your Gun. Offstage, Mindy is a fifth grade teacher in Hamburg, and will receive her MA degree in Science Education from U of M this summer. BOB PACE (Set Builder) has participated on set crews as well as other offstage crews in countless AACT productions. He was chief set builder for the award-winning Arsenic And Old Lace. Bob has performed onstage as an actor and dancer in AACT's Oklahoma! and in Summer Season '76 in Miss julie, Sganarelle, and The American Dream (in which he played the leading role). He also appeared in Fiddler On The Roof and The Matchmaker with Saline Area Players. STEVEN COLE (Publicity) appeared a few years ago in Civic Theater's Ernest In Love and in jericho, an original musical presented by Musket. Before this he played in two musicals in Grand Rapids: Music Man and Call Me Madam. Recently, Steve appeared with AACT as Father Ambrose in Waltz Of The Toreadors. He has been a soloist for local churches, and is currently a student at EMU, although he also free-lances as a portrait artist. JACQUELINE RADLOW (Publicity) was seen recently in the chorus of AACT's Carousel. Prior to that, she worked on and behind the stage for several productions at the U of M. She participated in the Civic Theatre workshops last year in musical theatre, acting, movement and dance. A graduate in French and German from the U of M, she will return there to pursue an advanced degree in communications arts. Her hobbies include filmmaking and travel.
