2 THE WAR OF THE WORLDS THEATRE Thursday 19th April 7.30pm No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man s And fewer would have believed in the first years of the twentyfirst century that H. G. Wells science fiction classic would be performed live by just four actors with intelligences lesser than average The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons invade the stage in this funny yet faithful new adaptation as they use musical instruments, puppetry and, um, enthusiasm to recreate deadly heatrays, giant fighting-machines, squidgy tentacled Martians and interplanetary warfare on an epic scale. The chances of success? A million to one Part alternative rock band, part thespian wholly charming The Times EVENING PUPIL RECITAL: Baska Enkhjargal (Organ) CHAPEL Friday 20th April 7.30pm One of our talented Grecian organists gives a solo recital on the celebrated 5-manual Chapel organ, including works by Bach and Hindemith. 3 STORIES FROM THE SET: MAKING MAGICAL MOVIES THEATRE Thursday 26th April 7.30pm An evening with Chris Rankin, the actor behind Wizard Percy Weasley plus 3 special guests involved in creating everyone s favourite magical world. Chris Rankin was 16 years old when he sent off a letter asking for an audition to play Percy Weasley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone. He went on to play the role for 11 years. In this special evening Chris will bring together other guests from set in a hosted panel to talk about their stories and experiences of working on one of the best loved film franchises in recent history. Guests will be other performers or creatives involved on the productions (to be confirmed nearer to the event). There will be plenty of time for audience questions! There will also be the opportunity to meet the guests after the Panel and Q&A session and obtain signatures on any items you wish (some items will be on sale on the night for purchase). Please note there is a separate charge for this. This event is not affiliated with the Harry Potter franchise, J.K. Rowling or Warner Bros Tickets: Adults 15, Conc. 14, Friends 13 Upgrade Option: Advance Purchase 5, On The Night 10 REFUGEE TALES THEATRE Tuesday 8th May 7.30pm Refugee Tales is a literary and cultural project that campaigns for an end to the indefinite detention of migrants. It promotes solidarity with refugees and detainees through story-telling, lobbying and communal walking. Introduced by the co-organiser David Herd (poet, critic and teacher and head of the School of English at Kent University) and featuring readings by celebrated author Patience Agbabi (sought-after poet, performer and mentor who has spent over 20 years celebrating the written and spoken word). There will also be first-hand testimony from a former detainee (to be confirmed). Refugee Tales at Christ s Hospital is free event to raise awareness and funds for the Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group. Tickets: Free. Donations to Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group welcome. Signed books by the authors will be on sale on the evening.

4 CLASSIC CONCERT: ORGAN RECITAL DINING HALL Friday 11th May 8.00pm Peter Dutton (School Organist) and Alex Hodgkinson (Director of Music) entertain on this beautiful and rarely-heard instrument. 5 BUGSY MALONE THEATRE Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd June 7.30pm WELCOME TO THE ROARING TWENTIES IN THE HEART OF ENGLAND, GOOD OL LONDON! Prohibition and gangster warfare run riot through the streets with two rival gangs at war. On one side we have Dandy Dan s gang and on the other, Fat Sam s. You would think with all of this going on there would be no time for anything else. that s where you re mistaken. Underground, nothing can interrupt Fat Sam s Grand Slam, the most swingin jazz club in town. Fat Sam s offers everything; dancing, showgirls, music, alcohol and dreams. This is where our main man hangs, his name is Malone, Bugsy Malone. The juniors of Christ s Hospital once again prove that they can put on a magnificent performance. SYMPHONIC CONCERT BIG SCHOOL Sunday 24th June 5.00pm CH bids farewell to some of its most accomplished Grecian musicians in this concert of concerto movements, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. This year s programme includes works by Mozart and Haydn alongside Bruch s feted Violin Concerto.

6 SCHOLA IN SUMMER CHAPEL Wednesday 27th June 7.30pm The Schola Cantorum performs Bach s early masterpiece Cantata 150 Nach, dir Herr, verlanget mich with instrumental accompaniment, followed by a lighter second half with an American flavour. Tickets: Adults 6, Conc. 5, Friends 4 BIG BAND CONCERT THEATRE Thursday 28th June 7.30pm The ever popular CH big band returns for the summer concert. Spanning decades of jazz and big band music, the band will play a mixture of old and new pieces, including some small group jazz and a number of vocal items. Employing their signature high-energy storytelling, music and live digital interaction, Flintlock s irreverent style brings Ibsen s masterpiece into the 21st century in a searing examination of fake news, whistleblowing and who really wields power in contemporary Britain.
