For all bookings or enquiries contact Mike Cade, Christ s Hospital Choral Society on or chchoralsoc@gmail.com CHORAL SOCIETY WORKSHOP BIG SCHOOL Saturday 10th March 10.15am Keen singers are once again invited to join Christ s Hospital Choral Society for a workshop on John Rutter s Magnificat, and enjoy the syncopated, energetic rhythms and strong melodies I LOVE YOU MUM, I PROMISE I WON T DIE by Mark Wheeller THEATRE Wednesday 14th March 7.30pm Daniel Spargo-Mabbs was a bright, articulate and popular 16 year-old from south London with a great sense of humour and a huge zest for life. He died on 20 January 2014, having taken MDMA (ecstasy) at an illegal rave a couple of days earlier. This wasn t the kind of thing Dan usually did. The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, a drug and alcohol education charity has been set up by Dan s parents, Tim and Fiona, in order to try to prevent any harm happening to another family. This verbatim play, written by award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller, tells Dan s story, entirely in the words of his family and friends. The audience sees the decisions that led to his death and the consequences of his loss on his friends and his family. The title comes from the final words Dan said to his mother Fiona before he left home for the last time on 17 January Tickets: Adults 6, Conc. 5, Friends 4 The performance will be followed by a Q&A with Mark Wheeller and Fiona Spargo-Mabbs.
6 ANGUS ROSS MEMORIAL CONCERT BIG SCHOOL Sunday 18th March 7.00pm The Christ s Hospital Choral Society and Chapel Choir join forces to perform Rutter s celebrated Magnificat, with orchestral accompaniment. Tickets: Adults 15, Conc. 14, Friends 13 THE WAR OF THE WORLDS THEATRE Thursday 19th April 7.30pm No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man s And fewer would have believed in the first years of the twenty-first century that H. G. Wells science fiction classic would be performed live by just four actors with intelligences lesser than average The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons invade the stage in this funny yet faithful new adaptation as they use musical instruments, puppetry and, um, enthusiasm to recreate deadly heat-rays, giant fighting-machines, squidgy tentacled Martians and interplanetary warfare on an epic scale. The chances of success? A million to one Part alternative rock band, part thespian wholly charming The Times Tickets: Adults 8, Conc. 7, Friends 6
