In New York, his playing and teaching venues, past and present, include LaGuardia High School, Amas Musical Theatre, MTCA (Musical Theater College Auditions), The New York Film Academy, Applause NY, Broadway Classroom, The West End Bar and Lounge, Sing for Your Seniors, The United Nations International School, The M Center in Brooklyn, and subbing Off-Broadway at Naked Boys Singing. As music director and/or pianist, highlight shows include: RENT, Les Miserables, The Addams Family, Spelling Bee, A Funny Thing...Forum, Little Shop of Horrors, I Love a Piano, and Dreamgirls. A native of Baton Rouge, Mason is thrilled to be back for his 6th Singo de Mayo production. He frequently collaborates on new works, solo and group cabarets, and accompanies auditions throughout New York. He has worked with industry pros such as Taylor Negron, Steve Martin, Laura Osnes, and Santino Fontana. Mason has developed a show celebrating the world of Jerry Herman entitled No Blue Monday. Outside of the musical theater, Mason is a dedicatee and avid researcher of the life and music of John Cage.

5 Music Musical Theatre Singing: Technique and Repertoire Music 4005 was first developed in 1999 by Terry Patrick-Harris, LSU Professionalin-Residence in Voice, as an enhancement for the first year Master of Fine Arts acting students. The course became available in 2001 to the entire university student population, both undergraduate and graduate. Singo de Mayo the annual Broadway Showcase, so named because the original performance occurred on May 5th or Cinco de Mayo is comprised of Musical Theater excerpts, which are sung, staged and choreographed by the students for their final presentations. This will be the 13th Singo de Mayo performance and the third year performing in the LSU Union Theater on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 7:30PM. This year s class is comprised of 39 students with the following diverse majors: Music: 11, Theatre: 9, Mass Communications: 4, Biochemistry: 1, History: 1, Management: 1, Marketing: 1, Business Administration: 1, Accounting: 1, Finance:1, Elementary Education: 2, Spanish: 1, Coastal Environmental Science: 1, Library Science: 1, Dietetics: 1, and Kinesiology: 2. Many members have performed this year in productions with the LSU Opera, LSU Dance Ensemble, Ascension Community Theatre, Theatre Baton Rouge-leading and supporting roles in Spring Awakening, Mary Poppins and Christmas Carol and leading roles in the recently performed Carrie, the Musical presented by the LSU Department of Theatre. Several members of the class were the leads in Playmaker s Beauty and the Beast and The Snow Queen. One student along with an alum of the class wrote an original musical A Thousand Words which was first performed in January 2015 at the Theatre Baton Rouge Studio. Several students had leading roles in the production, served as the music director of the show and several played in the band. The musical will be featured at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival this summer! We will be performing a selection from this brand new musical tonight! One of our seniors was selected as one of 35 students in a national audition to particpate in Springboard NYC - a two week intensive program in musical theatre. This program incudes a trip to the Tony Awards. Several students recently performed as soloists on the LSU A Cappella Choir Spring Tour to Texas. Students have been in the movie Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 filmed at LSU. Pitch Perfect 2 will be released in May, Three students are Golden Girls! Alums of the class are performing in national tours, cruises, regional theaters, theme parks, film, and musical workshop productions in New York. Recent alums from last year are in Law School,Veterinary School, Pharmacy School and Medical School.
