3 Specific Educational Objectives To extend the student s vocal, instrumental,art, dance, drama technique through sectional workshops, rehearsals and performances ( SGS8) To challenge the student s musicianship and performance skills by performing repertoire of a higher standard ( SGS7) To engage in host country s cultural activities (SGS 6) To connect with students world wide who share a common passion for music, arts, drama & dance( SGS 4)

4 Music Pre- requisites Carnival is open to students in: Year 5 & 6 Are equivalent to ABRSM 1 4 Ability to Read Music Ability to work interdependently with others To be away from home for an extended period of time Students are expected to come to the carnival having learnt their pieces.

5 MUSIC FOCUS GROUP It is expected that each child can read music, has practiced and can play their music, has the ability of Grade 3 ABRSM on their instrument or equivalent and can work independently and with others. Teachers will allow time to help students prepare with their music prior to the carnival.

6 DRAMA FOCUS GROUP It is expected that each child has experience and a passion for performing on stage, is expressive, can speak loudly and clearly and can work independently and with others.

7 Art Focus Group It is expected that each child has a passion and a good level of skill in different art mediums and can work independently and with others.

15 ACCOMODATION: HOMESTAY Parents will be given Homeparents phone number & DCSG shall not actually offer the children 'open access' to contact home as this often causes homesickness to be more, rather than less of an issue. Hosts are prepared to allow contact home should it be required in particular cases. Students will be in pairs

16 PARENT CONTRIBUTION: SURPRISE MESSAGE Pack an envelope for each day away with a 'surprise message'/card for the child the mother then feels that she is contributing towards the success of her child's first venture away
