District Operations Satisfaction Survey Results for FY COMMENTS KVCR Broadcast Services (TV and Radio) 16.4b) What kind of local content would you like to see on KVCR-TV? Keep the sports SBVC Sports contests More programs on health and wellness. Upcomming events to attend in the local area. Cooking shows, life style shows, educational programming Programs to promote things that can be done in the area. (ie. trails, places to go, places to eat) local artists History, documentaries, musical performances SBVC and CHC events SBVC Athletics programing needs to continue on KVCR-TV Health and Drama programs Biographies of minority individuals who have served this community, country. Decorated veterans BBC News more local programming More programing on college activities. Anything. News, events, culture, history to name just a few. Information about cultural events and lectures available in the area. more focus on community events and local politics They have every thing. local concerns Enjoy the athletic broadcasts Would like to see more programs that reflect diversity of Inland Empire residents. 1

THE CONTINUATION OF SBVC SPORTS BROADCASTS!!!! THE COMMUNITY LOVED IT!!! Athletic Events at San Bernardino Valley College More coverage of SBVC sporting events 16.4c) How can KVCR-TV better serve our community? Those old telecourses were more interesting than some of the programming they have. Support the Communications Career Academy and build relationships with K-12 and 4-year schools. SHow our sport programs With a new GM in place I believe serving the community is one of his main objectives. involved in schools Not sure Be integral part of the colleges to earn dollars from the general fund intended for students By continuing to broadcast SBVC Athletics. Offer better programs. Recognition to unknown heroes in our midst. news and covering local events For the radio, help us get to know people in the community--mayors, charities, etc.--via interviews. more focus on community events and local politics They already do. Try serving the inland empire community and not the LA community. Lack of disconnect with the audien service availability for the students More community engagement and outreach. SHOWCASING SBVC ATHLETICS AND GAINING NEW VIEWERSHIP IN OUR COMMUNITY,SPECIALLY YOUNG! Broadcasting more events that are on campus 16.8) If you could improve one thing about the services of KVCR, what would you change, and why? I would like to see more course-related content. 2

If we are going to continue to support KVCR then the District needs to develop an extensive educational TV and Radio program. If we are not willing do this then we should not support KVCR. The KVCR foundation needs to raise more money. Cover more sports contests for SBVC Perhaps be more involved in the student community on campus. more news items less talk show programs None. more promotions for adults I am not sure that I can answer this yet since I haven't watched or listened to radio, but I hope they include students in their programming and broadcast relevant and needed topics for the community. They should offer student from the district internships. It would be to continue SBVC Athletics programing (eg. Streaming with Sola/Soccer/Football/Basketball) on KVCR. It benefits the community and showcases the premier outlet that connects the community to SBVC through the lens of athletic achievement. I never hear anything about KVCR's programming and what they do other than using our general funds. more local programming I would sell it. don't know It needs to be more attractive to students. Since it is on one of the far ends of campus, a more welcoming marketing strategy will help assist in knowing what services they can provide. They need to become totally self-sustaining, we spend far too much taxpayer $$$$$ on this entity, and overpay the people in administrative positions!!!!! Pattern a local program for cities in the KVCR area after the California Report--an excellent program. provide more information about programming details such as: what shows are aired, times. basically more promotion. focus on the needs of the current student populations and community interest projests more traffic notices or traffic at regular intervals in the evening/after work. No suggestions always room for improvement on district promotions Be an integral part of the district and colleges to earn dollars from the general fund intended for student learning and success. 3

none Try working with the community and having information about the I.E. and not focusing on the LA community. Try local! I live in the I.E. I want to know stuff about the I.E. and not about stuff from the LA region or other regions. STAY LOCAL! You are a local channel. relay students stories and experiences Ken Vincent. He's not a great announcer--he stumbles over words and gets tongue-tied way too often. I'm starting to hear more but a continuing increase of local content is important. The continuing the growing community involvement in young new viewership that watches and are attracted to the entertaining broadcast that was our sports telecasts. More campus events should be broadcast Coverage of all sporting events that are held on campus. This gives the community a chance to better their involvement with a local sports team, which might prompt more support over-all. 16.8a) What can KVCR-FM do to better serve our community? More innovative local programming that is supported by local business sponsorships. Host a job or health fair. None. involve in schools Asked and answered in 16.4c. I really like it when KVCR-FM interviews local politicians (City, County, State, Federal) and I usually only find out about those interviews while they are happening or after the fact. If they were promoted better, I could listen to those interviews in their entirety. Offer and advertise more programs! Promote the college more strongly; allow college community to participate in the programming news and traffic Just do Traffic announcements. don't know Provide internship opportunities for our local students as well as filming and getting the stories of leaders in our community.kvcr should also be filming local news to highlight what happens directly in our community. Talk about what is working well in local cities. Keep finding space for local news related to community / municipal / nonprofit events. 4

feature the assets of the community; i.e. college, university, parks, small business No suggestions improve on district and campus promotions none Try working with the community and having information about the I.E. and not focusing on the LA community. Try local! I live in the I.E. I want to know stuff about the I.E. and not about stuff from the LA region or other regions. STAY LOCAL! You are a local channel. Provide contents that young people can relate to. I love public radio but students are used to listening to music. Public radio is maining discussions and talk, young people need transition from constant bad music to intelectual discussion. Include one or two programs they have to listen to. Its moving in a better direction. The changes in the last few years are positive. Advertise college classes and financial aid services to the community Continue to find and report more local coverage and be involved in more community events. To continue to expand and reach out by way of your sports involvement with SBVC and even add a HS game of the week and/or more diverse sports broadcast showcasing where former athletes are succeeding at thanks to the education they received at SBVC. I wish more folks would contribute to this station. It is obvious from listening to the radio that we have less money for the good programs than other local radio stations do. Also, I would like to hear the news or listen to good programs and what I get is a lesson on multiculturalism. It seems like they think that that is their role. I have been listening to it less because of that. Some of the news doesn't seem as solid. It just seems like they are trying to say something to solicit minority listeners. 16.8b) What would you like to hear more on KVCR-FM? How about a fait political perspective. Music. Opportunities. local artists I wonder if it's possible to simulcast Frontline on KVCR-FM? news and traffic No, not really. 5

don't know CLASSICAL CLASSICAL CLASSICAL Music!!! When they stopped playing Robert Reedy's Classical Hour, I essentially became a part-time listener. There is no reason why classical music couldn't be played between the slow hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Bring back postcards from the web It's a PRI program that requires subscription--which is not part of my budget now. Also, make local programs available online as NPR and PRI do as well as major cable programs. I like the addition of programs such as "my awesome empire" and "meet the mayors". Continue with that sort of theme... maybe, meet your local fire chiefs or water districts or sewage treatment plant operators. Stuff that we all depend on and might be better off knowing more about. No suggestions Frequent Traffic Updates for IE commuters. NPR, the Alec Baldwin contribution request ads I like all their programs. short, exciting, informative and interesting segments. Science lowdown, is broadcasted on KPCC but not KVCR. If unable to televise playoff games, perhaps broadcast them on the radio. Have a talk sports show integrated with your regular programing, focusing on local sports issues, perhaps appealing to the Spanish speaking audience. News briefs, especially of local interest. Better quality programs. 16.9) Please identify any additional services not currently available that you would like KVCR to offer. If none, leave blank. None. Local news that isn't simply provided by NPR. The program "You Don't Say." Maybe I've just missed it, but it seems like a long time since KVCR has done an open house. It ought to be a once a year thing, at least. Let viewers/listeners peek at the tiny behind-the-scenes world. work with faculty to determine what resources are available to them for their classroom use Frequent Traffic Updates for IE commuters. Biligual sports broadcasting or more expanded SBVC Sports broadcasting. 6

16.10) If you could improve one thing about KVCR on-air programs to better serve the campuses and district's needs, what would it be. None. local artists Send more information through about the channel and what programs will be on. The motto, "Out of sight, out of mind" applies, but I am interested in seeing the programing. Student programming. Doesn't the KVCR call sign come from "Valley College Radio"? It's anything but. SBVC Athletics programing exposes a whole new audience to KVCR that otherwise would not watch public television. Support within the staff is required to move this kind of programing forward. After a couple of years of programming and a new look this season, alumni, who were distant from the school and from KVCR are once again interested. Does KVCR really need to run another repeat of Ask This Old House or Masterpiece? Live sports programing is making KVCR relevant again. promoting events on the two campuses don't know Add streaming programs as NPR and PRI do. Use the radio and tv station to do more promotion of general college programs. How to get started; what are the basic requirements to be a cc student? What kinds of programs do we have? New classes that have been added. Etc. provide faculty with on-air content prior to or after airing of television programs More announcements of campus activities - better voice personalities None Insist on visiting classrooms and sharing a 5 minute section of "this American life", "Fresh Air" or some timely Public Radio with students. If KVCR staff introduced the programs to students, the studetns would dismiss the radio programs as geared for white upidy adults. District departments need to coordinate more of their events/activities with KVCR in advance to get proper coverage. Continue the excellence of your sports broadcasts ) How could the KVCR student internship student worker program better serve the needs of our students? None. I think we should make this available to veteran students. Provide for student programming as a laboratory for RTVF students and using student talent from both campuses. 7

The sports broadcasting student internship programing is the best way to give students real world broadcast experience. What would they be able to claim otherwise? "Ummmmm, well I sat in a chair and pressed buttons all day. Do I get the job?" paid internships, more internships in every department It cant, radio stations are a dying technology. don't know Create partnerships with both local and big market broadcasting services in an effort to make our students employable. Talk to them, interview them, problem-solve with them. Coordinate special projects on campus with the interns. If a department has a need for a video production, work with KVCR to facilitate the production as an honors project or something. I don't know the process, but I hear the students on the radio and they are not well trained. Don'e let them come on the air until they read the line correctly. Some voices are not suited for Radio. By working on the live sports broadcasts these students are receiving priceless hands on experience that will help them matriculate into 4 year programs. Students will learn the public and technical aspects of communication and running a TV/radio station ) Please use this space for any additional comments or suggestions regarding KVCR. More public relations so the audience grows. More direct work with TESS and Faculty to collaborate on technology in education. I would watch KVCR regularly to see our SBVC athletic teams play their games. The coverage has just begun, I would like to see all home and playoff games broadcast for every team. These our the students of our community playing in these games, let's promote them and SBVC with more broadcasts. I'm not aware of them at all. They probably do a fine job, but they are invisible. KVCR has been very helpful in our efforts to promote campus activities on the radio. They also made a terrific video for the Inauguration that was the highlight of that event. Keep dong a great job in serving the community. KVCR has been separate from the colleges for so long, that a significant amount of time and effort is needed to rebuild its mission back into college life. It's marvelous that the college has its own TV and radio station. It adds an extra dimension to the many services the college provides. Waste of money, and only benefits politicians. 8

KVCR MUST stop lying to the public that they are entirely publically funded. They are not. We know that the salaries and benefits of KVCR employees are paid out of the San Bernardino Community College's general fund. I am a listener, but this needs to be addressed. I really enjoy the radio programing on KVCR Glad you're here! Boost the signal so I don't lose my program after I go over Cajon Summit. Nah... don't spend resources on this. I know I can switch to internet-based streaming if I get a new car or I can get replay once I get home. Keep up the streaming! Frankly, KVCR has never done anything of value for the classroom nor the district, IMHO. Sell it off and use the money for things that help students...like hiring instructors. They are the best. Just change your focus and concentrate on who your audience is. Please keep the sports going!!! It was a refreshing and entertaining influx into your programming options. Untapped source of potential new viewers and community involvement!! Extremely happy that football and soccer were broadcast this season. Since I know many people can't make it to the games, it is nice to be able to watch it on tv. I just wish the soccer games were broadcast live. I love that KVCR is covering some of our sports teams on TV. It also looks pretty professional. My family enjoys watching as well. I have recruited new fans for SBVC through KVCR. Thank you. Eliminate KVCR so we can have more funding for classes and support staff 9
