All control and connector are decribed in detail, and you alo get ueful advice on how to ue them in different application. Fig. 2.1: EUROLIGHT LD6230 front panel Ventilation opening are located on the front panel. Their poition at the front aure that hot air doe not enter the inide of your rack, cauing equipment failure or damage. + To enure that your dimmer pack run moothly even under full load, you have to make ure that there i enough ditance to other heat-emitting equipment. There i an automated fue for each of the ix dimmer circle. Thee fue engage in the event of overload or hort circuit. Ue the CHANNEL key to hift between the ix dimmer channel. When ued in combination with the CONFIG key (ee ), you can elect different operating mode (DMX, ANALOG and MANUAL). Ue the UP and DOWN key to navigate through individual menu. The CONFIG key i ued to activate the configuration mode (ee ch. 2.1) and to elect individual menu. When ued in combination with the CHANNEL key (ee ), you can elect different operating mode. The LED to the left of the diplay have two purpoe: upply phae tatu indication (L1, L2 und L3) and indication of the operating mode you elected (DMX, ANALOG and MANUAL). The 3-digit DISPLAY how the value to be edited. The LED to the right of the diplay relate to the individual menu in the configuration mode. Depending on the elected function, the correponding LED light up. Fig. 2.2: EUROLIGHT LD6230 rear panel When your LD6230 work in DMX mode, ue the 5-pole DMX512 IN-XLR connector to connect DMX512 control ignal (ee ch. 2.2 DMX mode and ch. 4.1 Digital DMX connector ). You can relay the DMX control ignal to additional dimmer pack by uing the 5-pole DMX512 OUT XLR connector. 7 2.1 Configuration mode The important pre adjutment neceary for running the dimmer pack are done in the configuration mode. Keeping the CONFIG key preed for roughly two econd get you into the configuration menu. Once you are in the configuration mode, keep uing the CONFIG key to navigate through individual function, which are indicated with their repective LED located to the right of the diplay. To get out of the configuration mode, keep the CONFIG preed again for roughly two econd. + All adjutment made in configuration mode are automatically tored when you exit, and remain tored even when you power the LD6230 on or off ADDRESS A oon a you get to the configuration mode, the ADDRESS LED light up. In thi menu, you aign DMX baic channel (1 to 507) to the ix dimmer channel. Thi addre determine the DMX channel at which control command are executed. Since you are dealing with a 6-channel dimmer, a maximum of ix conecutive DMX channel can be interpreted a control ignal, depending on the aignment in the ASSIGN menu (ee ch ). If the tart addre value i 001, then the dimmer react to the firt ix channel of the DMX data tream. If you, for example, et the tart addre value to 024, then the dimmer react to the channel 024 to 029 correpondingly. If everal unit ue the ame DMX addre, then they alo receive the ame control command. To elect the deired DMX channel, ue the UP and DOWN key. When you keep one of thee key preed while tapping the other one imultaneouly, thi let you navigate through the channel in increment of 10 channel at a time ASSIGN When you pre the CONFIG key once again, you get to the ASSIGN menu (ASSIGN LED light up). In thi menu you can make four different input channel/dimmer channel aignment. Poible configuration: 1-6: All ix output are dependent on the etting of channel : Output 1-3 are dependent on the etting of channel 1, and output 4-6 are dependent on the etting of channel : Output 1 and 2 are dependent on the etting of channel 1, output 3 and 4 are dependent on the etting of channel 2, and output 5 and 6 are dependent on the etting of channel : All ix output are eparately dependent on the repective ix channel (1-6). If you elect one of the firt three configuration option, you can for example form headlight group that reproduce the ame identical program ince they are controlled through jut one channel. After you addre DMX channel and aign input and dimmer channel, you hould check if each dimmer circle react to the deired DMX control ignal by moving the correponding fader on the lighting conole PREHEAT When you pre the CONFIG key once again, you get to the PREHEAT menu (the PREHEAT LED light up). Ue the UP and DOWN key to enter the preheat value (0 to 15). Thi preheat value i then continuouly run to the headlight, thu lowering the tart-up current requirement and prolonging filament life. The preheat value you enter i valid for all ix channel. However, the PREHEAT function cannot be ued in witch mode (ee ch ) LIMITER When you pre the CONFIG key once again, you get to the LIMITER menu (the LIMITER LED light up). Ue the CONFIG key to navigate through all ix channel. Here you can et the upper limit for the control ignal of each individual channel. Set the threhold value (16 to 99) by uing the UP and DOWN key. The LIMITER function too prolong the life of your light equipment. Limiting the upper range of control voltage protect from voltage ocillation and overdrive CURVE When you pre the CONFIG key once again, you get to the CURVE menu (the CURVE LED light up). There are five poible way to et up the tranmiion characteritic of your dimmer pack. You can determine how control voltage (i.e. fader movement on the mixing conole) i tranmitted to the lighting equipment. Step through the ix channel indicated on the lefthand digit on the diplay by preing the CONFIG key. Define the tranmiion characteritic for each channel eparately by uing the UP key. LINEAR (L): Thi tranmiion characteritic linearly increae or decreae control voltage in all egment of fader movement. When you move a fader on the lighting conole, the headlight intenity change directly proportionate to the fader movement. EXPONENTIAL (o1): In thi cae, the tranmiion curve i irregular. When you move the fader on the lighting conole uniformly upward, the voltage in the lower third of the fader range of movement increae linearly, wherea the tranmiion characteritic beyond the firt third of the fader range of motion become more pronouncedly (exponentially) progreive with each increment of fader motion. LOGARITHMIC (o2): Thi tranmiion characteritic i alo irregular. In the upper third of the fader range of motion the voltage change linearly, wherea the tranmiion characteritic in the lower two third get more pronouncedly degreive with each increment of fader motion. The logarithmic tranmiion curve i the oppoite of the exponential curve. SWITCH OPERATION (US = Unlimited Switch): In thi mode you can ue the dimmer circle a a witch. Thi way, you can ue your LD6230 to control fog machine, motor and variou other effect. When the control voltage reache 50% or more of a previouly pecified value, the channel i witched on. When the control voltage fall below 50%, the channel i witched off again. LIMITER and PREHEAT function cannot be ued in thi mode. SWITCH OPERATION (LS = Limited Switch): In SWITCH OPERATION (LS) the limiter function can be ued. + Tranmiion curve can be eparately adjuted for each individual channel on the EUROLIGHT LD DMX mode Your LD6230 i automatically in DMX mode a oon a the power i up (DMX LED light up). Navigate through different mode by uing the CHANNEL key while imultaneouly preing the CONFIG key. Your LD6230 receive the DMX ignal via the DMX512 IN connector, and thi ignal can be forwarded to additional dimmer pack uing the DMX512 OUT connector in order to proce additional channel. DMX512 IN and DMX512 OUT are 5-pole XLR connector and are located on the rear panel. 2. CONTROL ELEMENTS 7

8 2.2.1 DMX512 Data tranmiion in the field of lighting equipment refer to tranmitting control information from the lighting conole via the dimmer to the headlight, canner and imilar equipment. Thi proce take place by uing the digital DMX512 control ignal that wa developed at the USITT (United State Intitute for Theatre Technology). Information i no longer repreented through analog voltage value; intead, digital data et are ued. In contrat to analog data tranmiion, digital ignal can imply be patched together: each piece of information ha an addre to which it belong. Additionally, the following goe for digital ignal: when they arrive at their detination, they have the correct value ince there i no lo of quality aociated with analog ignal. Of coure, problem may arie here a well. Very often, the reaon for faulty tranmiion lie in deploying wrong connector or connector other than thoe precribed by the norm. Uing wrong cable alo may lead to faulty data tranmiion. We therefore only recommend uing cable that are intended for ue with digital audio technology. The DMX tandard contain 512 digital light channel that are controlled uing a common data cable. However, a maximum of 32 different piece of equipment can be connected to any one cable ince the cable at ome point become overburdened (due to hared controlling of all end equipment). Still, each piece of equipment can evaluate a much data a you wih. To connect additional piece of equipment, you need a o-called plitter or a booter to amplify or to regenerate the DMX ignal. DMX512 i a compatible norm and require only one data cable ince all ignal recipient are freely addreable, o you avoid having cable alad iue. Once all piece of equipment are correctly connected and addreed, a DMX ytem typically work completely trouble-free. 3. APPLICATIONS Lighting equipment i an integral part of almot every performance event and venue. Be it concert, theatre or muical act, club or even preentation and exhibit, they all benefit from good viual in order to leave a lating impreion on the audience. In general, lighting either create a certain feeling or emphaize the mood created through muic or dramaturgic compoition. Creating a lighting etup i a demanding and creative endeavour, ince it i much more than merely making a et of light go on and off. To do thi, you need a dependable, multi-functional et of tool. The EUROLIGHT LD6230 offer a maximum on functionality and i the perfect expanion for a lighting conole, preferably the BEHRINGER EUROLIGHT LC2412. Thank to digital DMX controlling, uing multiple dimmer pack let you implement demanding lighting etup, ince you can control up to 32 component with only one DMX connection. Thee component don t necearily have to be headlight; in witch mode, you can alo control fog machine, pyrotechnic equipment or motor. Thi make the LD6230 much more than jut a piece of lighting equipment. The following illutration how a connection example with two EUROLIGHT LD6230, a BEHRINGER EUROLIGHT LC2412 and BEHRINGER ULTRAPAR UP1000 headlight, whereby 12 light channel can be run. The firt dimmer pack i controlled with the digital DMX control ignal, the econd one with an analog ignal. If both dimmer pack are controlled with the DMX control ignal, the econd dimmer pack need to receive the control ignal via the firt dimmer pack: 2.3 ANALOG mode In addition to the digital DMX mode, your EUROLIGHT LD6230 dimmer pack alo let you work in ANALOG mode. You get to thi mode by preing the MODE key while the CONFIG key i preed (the ANALOG LED light up). The analog control ignal (0-10 V) i tranfered to the dimmer pack via an 8-pole DIN connector located on the rear panel. Thi way, you can ue the LD6230 with analog control equipment. In ANALOG mode, each dimmer channel ha a control cable (or a core pair) of it own. The control ignal run through thi cable. The output voltage of the dimmer i proportionate to the control cable ignal. A a rule, 0% i repreented by a voltage of 0 V, 50% i repreented by a voltage of 5 V and 100% i repreented by a voltage of 10 V. + When the dimmer pack receive a zero ignal level at the input end, the output ignal level hould correpondingly be at it minimum. When the dimmer pack receive a maximum ignal level at the input end, the output ignal level hould be at it maximum. 2.4 MANUAL mode To power up your lighting equipment, the EUROLIGHT dimmer pack can be ued even without an external lighting conole when in MANUAL mode (MANUAL LED light up). In thi mode, all etting are automatically aved every two econd and can be recalled even after powering the LD6230 off and then on again. A with other operating mode, you get to MANUAL mode by preing the CHANNEL key while the CONFIG key i kept preed. The left diplay digit indicate the channel elected with the CHANNEL key. The next two digit to it right indicate the level of the control ignal, with value from 0 to 99. Ue the UP and DOWN key to adjut the control ignal value. Fig. 3.1: Connection example with the EUROLIGHT LC2412 and the ULTRAPAR UP1000 headlight If you need more light channel, connect extra dimmer pack for proceing your control ignal APPLICATIONS
