Interior walls between recording and mixing spaces constructed of sand-filled block to achieve necessary mass. 8 inch airspace between walls to further improve isolation. All rooms structurally de-coupled to prevent acoustic transmission through walls. All rooms rest on individually poured slabs to prevent low frequency transmission through floors. (Standard 4 inch slabs flare to 8 inches at the edges to support added wall mass.) Industry standard Krieger studio doors in all recording and mixing spaces. Doors feature compression seals and cam lift hinges to insure proper seal at thresholds. Floors in all recording spaces are floated with sound isolation materials under ¾ tongue-in-groove hardwood. (Slabs poured at lower elevation so all finished floors remain flush facility-wide.) K-13 cellulose spray insulation used as interior roof undercoat for primary layer of exterior sound isolation. Studio ceilings consist of 14 inches of composite layers of differing materials (drywall, plywood, particle board, sound board, etc.) each separated by a layer of Green Glue noiseproofing compound. HVAC air handlers are suspended between joists on vibration isolation hangers with multiple points of both mechanical and acoustic isolation in all duct work. Ducts, plenums and returns are custom designed and built to eliminate the sound of airflow. Ventilation noise is virtually imperceptible, contributing to an extremely low noise floor for recording and mixing.
