2 This assignment has several components. Be sure to read the instructions carefully, use the checklist and follow examples. Fractured Fairy Tale Assignment Making Connections and Using Ideas First, choose a traditional fairy tale you have a connection to. Read the traditional fairy tale and complete a Making Connections reader response. In your response you should have 3 paragraphs: 1) summary of fairy tale; 2) personal connection to story; 3) personal connection to a character. This should not exceed one typed page in length. Second, decide how you will mix-up (fracture) your traditional fairy tale. Record details and ideas (plot, setting, characters) on the handout provided. Next, turn your ideas and details into a fractured fairy tale. Remember to include a catchy title and lots and lots of interesting details! Don t forget about paragraphs when you are writing. Final copies must be proofread carefully this is an important assignment. Stories should not exceed two typed pages in length (this includes any pictures you insert). The first letter of your story should be an illuminated letter (draw it onto your typed fairy tales). Following that, create a cover (title page) for your fairy tale. Remember to include the author (you) and the original fairy tale you based your story on. Lastly, organize your work according to the instructions on the next page. Presentation and organization is very important, so don t overlook this last step!

3 Fractured Fairy Tales Assembly Instructions: Fold construction paper in half (hamburger fold). Glue title page on the cover of your construction paper. Glue story on the insides. Glue connection reader response on back cover. It should look like a giant card when completed.
