Fine / Fine. Pictorial boards in matching dust jacket with original price intact ($6.95). Jeffrey never gets to keep his seat on the school bus, so he devises a plan to get to keep his seat. Cute color artwork. Scarce title $75.00 Signed Limited Edition One of the Loveliest Versions of Andersen s Tale 7. Andersen, H. C.. Snow Queen. ill. Katharine Beverley & Elizabeth Ellender. NY: E P Dutton, (1929). 1st Ltd. Ed. 8vo. Good / No Jacket. 209 pgs. Top edge silvered (rubbed). Red paper over board with black cloth spine, cover stamped in silver and black, spine titled in silver, edges rubbed and chipped, spine silver flaked, scrawl mostly erased from halftitle, the black sections of a few illustrations were further blackened by previous owner which did not mar finer details. The book was issued with a slip case that had an additional, this is not present. Despite flaws, this still manages to be an acceptable copy of a rare and highly sought-after edition of Andersen's tale. The book contains 48 plates in black and red by Beverley and Ellender, about which little is known. Their style walks the line between Art Nouveau and Art Deco combining bold geometric shapes with fine, elaborate line work reminiscent of Harry Clarke and Kay Nielsen. Also issued in a trade edition, this copy is limited to 200 copies on rag paper and signed by both artists. $ Page 1

Pictorial pastedown over boards with blue cloth spine, corners worn, else bright, clean and solid. The first edition with Hardy's artwork was published in London by Nister and conttained 6 color plates. DeWolfe & Fiske published a number of versions of Andersen's tales illustrated by Hardy. An uncommon title illustrated Appleton depicting fairies.
