2 PRINCIPAL s MESSAGE We must have life-building, man-making, character-making, assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library. By Swami Vivekananda Education is not merely acquirement of facts but also of values which help us improve the different facets of mankind. It ensures that we leave the world a far better place than we found it. A pivotal role of education lies in shaping the personality of a child into a healthy mind and happy soul, who is not only equipped with 21st century skills and aptitude required for academic excellence but helping him face the challenges of life in a balanced and harmonious way. Therefore, the system of education should work as a catalyst in making each child a balanced human being having his core strengths embedded in the learning experiences emanating from our rich socio-cultural roots. In Kendriya Vidyalayas, we enterprise to map academic excellence with a good human value system, which in myriad ways is ingrained in the culture of the school. To achieve this, we strongly feel that a paradigm shift in the minds of all stake holders should take place so that when the school becomes the hub to initiate and formalise education it has its tenets enshrined in a good value system; the extension of which is thereby taken home where it is further strengthened. And our commitment to such education will always persist in all our endeavors. In this pursuit of excellence, I appreciate our parent fraternity for supporting the school in every aspect. I also laud the relentless efforts of our teachers for giving their best in bringing out the best in each child. But I would exhort the students to 2

3 be always modest, humble and disciplined, while being ready to expand the horizons of their knowledge and skills by dreaming big and working hard. Our School is trying its best to achieve this goal. To realize this we conduct many co-curricular activities which help unfold hidden talents of the students. Writing stories, poems, short essays are some of the activities which help students to develop the thinking and look at the things happening in the world at different angles. We bring out our E-magazine with these objectives. It is the creative effort and hard work of our students and teachers. The concept of free will is pervasive in our world How can we make sense of our lives and hold people accountable for their choices given the unconscious origins of our conscious minds? We do not have the freedom we think we have Either our wills are determined by prior causes and we are not responsible for them. Or they are the product of chance and we are not responsible for them. The intention to do one thing and not another does not originate in consciousness. Rather it appears in consciousness. As does any thought or impulse that might impose it. Consider what it would actually take to have free will. You would need to be aware of all the factors that determine your thoughts and actions, and you would need to be in complete control of these factors." 9 A REPORT ON DIGITAL INDIA Yagyashri Sharma 10th july 2017 Digital India project was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st of July in It is an effective scheme to transform India for better growth and development of the people and country. Digital India week (from 1st July to 7th July) was inaugurated by the PM on Wednesday in the presence of senior ministerial colleagues and leading companies CEOs. It aims to give India a digital push for good governance and more jobs. The PM of India has tried his best towards digitizing campaign for India in order to bridge the gap between government services and people. Digitization was the need to be implemented in India for bright future and grow more than any other developed country. Following are the benefits of digital India campaign: It makes possible the implementation of digital locker system which in turn reduces paper work by minimizing the usage of physical documents as well as enabling e-sharing through registered repositories. It is an effective online platform which may engage people in governance through various approaches like Discuss, Do and Disseminate. It ensures the achievement of various online goals set by the government. It makes possible for people to submit their documents and certificates online anywhere which reduces physical work. Through e-sign framework citizens may digitally sign their documents online. 9

10 It may ease the important health care services through e-hospital system such as online registration, taking doctor appointments, fee payment, online diagnostic tests, blood check-up, etc. It provides benefits to the beneficiaries through National Scholarship Portal by allowing submission of application, verification process, sanction and then disbursal. It is a big platform which facilitates an efficient delivery of government or private services all over the country to its citizens. Bharat Net programe (a high-speed digital highway) will connect almost 250,000 gram panchayats of country. There is a plan of outsourcing policy also to help in the digital India initiative. Large scale deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots has been planned by the BSNL all across the country. There is a Broadband Highways in order to handle all the connectivity related issues. Open access of broadband highways in all the cities, towns and villages will make possible the availability of world-class services on the click of mouse. National Centre for Flexible Electronics will help in the promotion of flexible electronics. Large scale deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots has been planned by the BSNL all across the country.
