3 Dear Parent, Summer vacations can be immensely beneficial for a child provided they are used judiciously and for the same we need the support of parent to closely monitor the child and be involved with them throughout. Cartoon watching is fun. This is the age wherein they enjoy the same. But make it a good learning experience. Just change the language from Hindi to English. Pick words from it repeat the same words over and over again. Try to add one word in the child s vocabulary daily. Indulge in healthy communication it can be on global warming, pollution, moral values, importance of being disciplined, etc. Write at least a page daily of cursive hand writing. The same can be an extract from newspaper. If not possible to go out of station do take child to local places and tell him/her to write a travelogue sort of piece. Say visit to Town Park, mall, India gate, any local market this is just to improve their expression while writing and their retrospection skills. Take child for fine dining at least twice. Let them explore different cuisine and encourage them to place an order and clear the query regarding their order. Authentic ingredients with their correct pronunciation can be very beneficial Go for long walks early in the morning. Let them have a feel of nature before the sun is out. The whiff of fresh air, the sounds of birds. Connect with nature makes them a way creative in their approach. Take good care of your child s health and hygiene. Avoid heavy and oily food and increase intake of fresh fruits and water to keep your child well hydrated and energetic. Use the given activities as an opportunity to spend quality time together. Let your child take the lead and use his/ her imagination, creativity and knowledge to do the assigned task. The role of the parent is to be a facilitator and guide to steer the child in the right direction. He will find his own destination.

4 MATHEMATICS Using waste material make any two Mathematical models. You can use straws, toothpicks, boxes etc. to make angles, polygons, 2D, 3D shapes etc. For example :- Collect and write information about any two Mathematicians and their contributions to the subject on A4 size pastel sheets (paste their pictures). Prepare a folder for the same and decorate it. Learn and write tables from 2 to 20 in your Maths register. SCIENCE Field trip Visit a nearby dairy and report about the process used to separate cream from milk. Visit a nearby tailor, collect various pieces of fabrics like- cotton, silk, jute, wool etc. Paste, and label the same on an A4 size sheet.

5 Read the articles on- Possibility of life outside the Earth Write your opinion on an A4 size sheet about what could be defined as the life outside the Earth. Make a habitat album Obtain the pictures of animals and plants found in different surroundings (in the forest, mountains, desert, sea etc.). Paste the pictures under different habitat sections in the album. Draw the structures of leaf and tree shapes found in those areas and present the same in the class. ENGLISH Watch documentary on India Pakistan Partition BBC (in English) and write a report after watching the same in 500 words in beautiful cursive handwriting. We are already too late to take any action against global warming. There is so much to learn from country like Bhutan, which is the only zero CO2 nation in the world; Germany, which is amongst the largest producer of luxury cars in world but major consumer of cycles, manufactured in India. Discuss the same with parents and write your report after researching the facts about the same.
